Gunman opens fire at Thousand Oaks bar

All this info is preliminary but besides the shooter, hopefully there isn't any fatalities.

Postive thoughts for the victims and their families.

And it keeps on happening mad

At least 11 people were wounded, including a sheriff’s deputy, late Wednesday in a shooting at a country and western dance hall in Thousand Oaks, Calif., that was holding an event for college students, officials said.

The gunman was dead and “multiple injuries” had been reported among patrons at the Borderline Bar and Grill, officials said, adding that there was no longer a threat to the public.

There were shots fired at the Borderline Bar and Grill” at 11:20 p.m., said Capt. Garo Kuredjian, a spokesman for the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office. “As deputies responded, they also heard shots.” Additional units from the California Highway Patrol, Simi Valley and the F.B.I. responded, he said.

Authorities in Thousand Oaks, Calif., northwest of Los Angeles, reported 13 fatalities at a bar and dance hall late Wednesday after multiple shots were fired by a man inside.

Ron Helus, a sheriff’s sergeant, was among those killed. The gunman was also killed, authorities said.

Ventura County Sheriff Geoff Dean said he had no reason to believe that there was a link to terrorism, “but we certainly will look at that option.”

The gunman, who also died, was 29-year-old Ian Long. He reportedly drove his mother's car to the bar. He threw smoke bombs into the crowd before opening fire.
The 29-year-old white male from California died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the scene. According to NBC News, the shooter drove his mother’s vehicle to the bar. Police said the gunman was “heavily tattooed,” but did not provide details about the tattoos, which were used to identify him along with fingerprints, NBC News reports.

You're right. You're hitting some nerves, but you'r right.

"No Way To Stop This" Says Only Country Where This Happens All The Time

That's a headline from a humor site, yet it's the most accurate depiction of the grip the NRA has on America. This happens all the time because the NRA has the power to stop things we can do that would help prevent these shootings.

In our country, you're either with the shooters or you're with the victims.

The NRA is with the shooters. But guess what?

They're going broke. Hope and help are on the way.

If it were that easy it would be done. We watched in horror as the death toll of small children were announced in Newtown... we watched in horror as bodies were strewn around concert grounds in Las Vegas... we watched in horror as teens were slain at Parkland High School in Florida... we watched in horror as seniors were shot in a synagogue in PA. And now this sad rose

No one enjoys seeing this. Unfortunately we few on the Org do not represent the entire nation and every elected official who is owned by the NRA. We have a right to complain. We have a right to vote for those who support gun legislation... but sadly the NRA has induced such fear into our society that this is one of the most difficult policies to turn over. If the shooting of small children cannot move people to vote out those elected owned by the NRA... what will?

In the meantime we grieve for the dead and wounded and their families and continue to fight these policies until we win.

I wonder how he got out of the caravan and got to a bar in Thousand Oaks? Or did he sneak through illegally from one of Trump's shithole countries? Oh, wait................Don Lemon was right.

Most of the world is de-sensitized to this type of stuff now. I'm from Canada and I watch the news everyday for a little while and shootings barely make me stop and take notice anymore. I know it's very sad to admit this, but it's the truth. Even in my own city, the almost daily reports of shootings and stabbings don't even resonate with me anymore.

Trumpers assure us that the ONLY people that commit murders are immigrants, so I got confused by this massacre. He may have done it because of Hillary's emails, or possibly Benghazi. You forgot to mention that.

Yeah, it was all Obama's fault, and the last one, and the next one rolleyes

Let's hope Trump pumps millions, perhaps billions, into mental health then eh? He sure as hell ain't going to do anything about the guns. More likely than that though is that there will just be another shooting next week, and the week after, and the week after, and yet again nothing will be done. So sad.

It never ceases to amaze me how cruel humans can be against fellow humans and animals, especially when in the pursuit of money and power.

I don't know if he killed over a political agenda, but you've certainly ascribed a political agenda to his situation.

As we understand the facts right now, this seems to be a case of a guy who needed mental help and shouldn't have had access to firearms because of that.

As American government is constituted today: (1) our president has been gutting healthcare funding in America, including mental health care; and (2) the right to purchase firearms despite having a mental disease is alive and well.

As I said earlier - you're either with the shooter or with the victims.

As I see it, everyone here as of this post is with the victims except SuperFurryAnimal.

This is heartbreaking - Cody Coffman has been confirmed dead, his father is distraught. Many more families going to be going through the same. Ban guns, get rid of mass shootings.

The best people can snap.

That’s why making mass killings weapons so easy to get without more oversight is insane.

But that money right-wing GOP politicians get from the Russians and other gun lobbyists blinds them to becoming willing accessories to mass murder. Right wingers and morals are a foreign concept.

It's one year past the Las Vegas massacre.

Bump-stock devices are still legal and legally obtainable.

Let's make 2020 about gun control. After all, one is either with the shooters or with the victims. I know which side I'm on, and I bet you do too.
