I don't think the US are headed anywhere; it'll just go round and round in circles. After Trump, there will be a Democratic president who will try to undo everything Trump did just like Trump is trying to undo everything Obama did. I'm so fuckin' glad that I'm not an American. In my country, we have two right wing parties, a liberal right party, a liberal democrat party, three Christian democrat parties, two socialist parties, two green parties, a 50+ party, an immigrants party... It's crazy! But even that is better than America's two party system where you can vote right wing or even more right wing or for an independant candidate that you just know will never make it.
I may disagree with everything you say, but I will defend your right to say it.

I'm just tired of blowhards who do nothing but complain, and then try to run away from the ridiculous shit they post.

He said he wanted Trump to win; Trump won and is doing EXACTLY what he wants Trump to do; and all he can do is bitch, bitch, bitch.

The dude has never had any answers and never will.

That is why I have to take sabbaticals from PR. Here is what I think will eventually happen someone that is not a Dem or Republican will win as President. I think the two-party system will soon be over.

You and I should be the ones to do it.

Honestly, the only thing I've missed in this is that I thought a Trump victory in the primary would move the GOP toward the center. I think I was right about the TEA party being the big losers in all this but clearly Trump didn't move the GOP anywhere except towards that cliff on the far right side of our flat political world. For some reason though, the TEA party decided not to get on that bus.

Eventually it is good to just take a break. Ultimately we are all just Prince fans. Ok I think the tea party will end up being a movement of that moment in time. Other parties will eventually win the Presidency the way things are headed. I think gray wanted to be a thread based on race? which is fine. I don't know if it will get worse or better. As twisted as it sounds tragedy like a nuclear war would bring us all together. Or if we have to eventually battle ISIS again.
I think we can all collectively say.

Yes but now money doesn't necessarily win election. Bit if someone knows how to utilize the media. It drastically changed with Trump. Other parties will eventually win more seats and Presidency. It is only a matter of time. The message about Trump is America is sick of typical fucking politicians. Like him or not. That is why I believe Oprah could win.

According to Jason Stanley it may be fascism. Nazi Germany started with these facts:

Blame a foreign entity, play victim, bash the state but not the Nation, go after gays, go after liberalism, bash big cities rah rah rural small towns, go after culture.

We're definitely on that path. I think it depends on how long Trump is in office and who comes in after him. In electing trump we lowered the bar so much, and turned our politics into such a shitshow circus, that who knows what kind of person will run for(and possibly win) potus. There's just so many people who seem to be bewitched by...something, that the damn anti christ(or at least another hitler or mussolini) might end up getting elected next. Or some shit like that...

You're right that people are losing faith in politicians and that's how somebody like Trump could get elected. And that's the real problem that people overlook because they're so obsessed with Trump. I don't think president Oprah would change any of that...

We've never stopped fighting the Civil War.

The Blue and Gray have been replaced by the Red and the Blue. Since Lee "surrendered" at Appomatox, we have only been able to pull together in crisis, and that unity is all too fleeting once the crisis is averted.

Our infrastructure is literally crumbling from within. Our environment is flashing warning signs every day. Our working class hasn't been able to make real economic advancement for nearly 50 years. And our changing demographics have caused a whole lot of fear and panic for our so-called "melting pot."

Yet it seems our politics have been reduced to rooting for laundry. Packers-Bears, Yankees-Red Sox, Lakers-Celtics and Auburn-Alabama have nothing on Red-Blue. We relish victories by "our team" and revel when "their team" loses. When "our guy" runs the show, things are great. When "the other guy" does, the Republic is on the verge of collapse.

To be sure, I think the side that has picked up the banner for the old Confederacy is at the root of a lot of these problems.

But the metrics indicate a slow, gradual decline absent a radical change of events that builds a genuine and lasting national unity.

Because as was said in the early years of the Civil War, a House Divided cannot stand.

Lord knows i wish things were different, but they are not. It's tough though, that innocent people are going to suffer. Especially the youth(lets say, 25 and under). They deserve better.

Trump exploited these divisions for his own gain.

America is going to hell in a hand basket. About our 2 party system. The way that the constitution is set up, the winner of a presidential election has to have 270 electoral votes. Long story short, if there were many parties, such that no candidate gets 270 electoral votes, then the members of congress would choose a president from the top 3 candidates. There is no way that I want those clowns electing our president.

That certainly is a factor. Some of those Trump rallies look like lynch mobs.
Did you ever dream that the President of the United States would publicly demean a woman who said she was sexually assaulted... and a crowd of thousands (including children) just LAUGHED???
