NK warns US as it suspends talks with South Korea over military drills

Well, the talks may not move forward next month, per North Korea, as many suspected.

Why go thru all the motions and release the hostages if they were planning on not meeting Trump at all?

The hostages were most likely released as a token from North Korea to show that they are committed about reunification with South Korea, in exchange were probably expecting that the U.S would halt its military provocations which are carried out on its border.

I honestly think Kim has been playing games with Trump, sort of a chess match. I have never felt that this meeting would take place. I hoped it would, but I doubted it. Kim holds a god like power in his country. People there (supposedly) view him almost as a god. He can NEVER appear to be weak, because that would diminish his power in the eyes of his people. Negotiating with someone who called him "Little Rocket Man" (though it's doubtful his people even knew Trump called him that) would be seen as weakness to Kim. I think Kim wants to make Trump look weak, make him look a fool. All of this talk of giving Trump the Nobel Peace Prize would be seen to Kim as a slap in the face, because that would mean Trump is getting all of the credit. He's already come out once saying Trump had nothing to do with it. And as long as Trump gets the credit for it worldwide, Kim is going to stop the talks. Maybe he thought he should be the one to get the credit, that people worldwide should see how powerful he is (the way his people see him). And the fact that the world is giving Trump credit, making Trump appear to be more powerful than him, will not sit well with Kim.

Kim should know we don't need him to make Trump look like a fool. Trump does that to himself on a daily basis. smile

It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

I want peace more than anything but regardless, I still want Trump to get the Nobel Peace Prize. At this point, why not? let's just let this clown-show roll down the cliff to its natural conclusion.

Uh, yeah. I doubt the Norwegians will select the clown show. The rolling down the cliff part sounds nice.

Prize Awarder for the Nobel Peace Prize

The Norwegian Nobel Committee is responsible for selecting the Nobel Peace Prize Laureates.

By the terms of Alfred Nobel's will the Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded by the Norwegian Nobel Committee since 1901. Alfred Nobel left no explanation as to why the prize for peace was to be awarded by a Norwegian committee while the other four prizes were to be handled by Swedish committees.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee is composed of five members appointed by the Storting (Norwegian Parliament). The Committee's composition reflects the relative strengths of the political parties in the Storting, and is assisted by specially appointed expert advisers.

http://www.canada.com/news/jong+worries+that+john+bolton+trying+turn+into+gadhafi+behind+cold/17421907/story.html

Kim Jong Un does not fancy being another Moammar Gadhafi. North Korea watched on in caution and then horror as the Libyan leader accepted a U.S. deal to dismantle his nuclear regime in return for sanctions relief, because it turns out there was no lifetime guarantee: In 2011 he was killed by NATO-backed rebels, with ignominious images of his bloodied body going viral on social media.
For Kim, the episode highlights the perils of accepting assurances from the U.S. in return for handing over his weapons.

So the championing by U.S. President Donald Trump’s National Security Adviser John Bolton of a “Libyan model” for North Korean disarmament was never going to go down well. It’s just weeks before Trump and Kim are due to meet in Singapore. Meanwhile the U.S. and South Korea are carrying out annual military drills that tend to upset Pyongyang.

The gulf is already wide, with the U.S. wanting proof of “irreversible” denuclearization before sanctions are lifted, and North Korea seeking a step-by-step process. Now, North Korea says Bolton’s muddying of the waters could put the summit itself in doubt. Either way, it’s unlikely Kim will want him at the table.

Here is an official translation of a statement released by the Korean Central News Agency of North Korea on Wednesday...

If Trump really wanted peace with North Korea he should never have hired Bolton. Shoot yourself in the foot whydontcha? Bolton wants regime change since forever. And he's a hothead too. Even when he was younger he wanted to blow up the world. Now that he's older (closer to the grave), and given another chance to be a Supreme Dickhead - just does not bode well.

John Bolton was called human scum and a bloodsucker by Kim Jong Il in 2003 - Washington Post today.

It would be really funny if this got back together and then Kim Jong-Un won the Nobel Peace Prize instead of Trump. Of course, it would also mean WWIII.

If the meeting goes ahead, they might both win the Nobel Prize. Just like Arafat, Rabin and Peres in 1994.

America can't help itself. They know that these military operations are a massive provocation at this time, but they insist on doing them anyway.

They really are the biggest impediment to peace. John Bolton's belicose statements are a pretty faithful representation of the psychology of the war addicts in the deep state and the military industrial complex in general. Their enemy is peace itself.

They sabotaged Obama's efforts to make peace in Syria. They will try to do the same here.

The deep state is just a term we use for unelected state power. To deny that there is a deep state is to deny that there is a CIA, an FBI, a Department of Justice, etc.

It's a sign of how brainwashed you are that you think the deep state is a crazy concept. It's just a simple reality. Not all of the powers that govern us are elected. Sorry to tell you that.
