Trump fills his administration "with only the best and most serious people."

Or so he claimed during the campaign. He stated that he would hire "top, top people" and would fill his administration "with only the best and most serious people."

However, to-date, more than 1 in 3 White House staffers have left within the first year of Trump's presidency.

Manafort, Page, and Flynn are being investigated by the FBI and congressional investigations related to Russia.

Porter and Sorenson have both resigned amid domestic violence allegations. One of Porter's ex-wives actually received a restraining order.

30 to 40 people in the White House have yet to obtain permanent security clearances a year into his presidency. This is concerning because of the reasons why they do not have permanent security clearances yet.

"This administration and indeed Trump's team before the campaign, during the campaign and now in the White House, includes people who are totally unfit to handle classified information," said Evan McMullin, a former CIA officer who briefly ran as an independent presidential candidate in 2016.

McMullin said some Trump appointees were having trouble getting clearances because of associations with foreign governments hostile to the US, or through personal habits -- like Porter for instance -- that could potentially leave them vulnerable to blackmail by foreign agents.

Edited because I had too many "withs" -- ugh.

LOL - But it's the truth, ain't it? When you start looking into who he has hired, what they have done or not done, who has left either by resigning or being fired....but he said he hires only the best!

I would seriously hate to see who considers to be the worst! eek

The more I see of this guy's management style, the more I am convinced that he's rarely if ever actually made any money in business.

I'm sure he's refinanced a lot of stuff and taken money out that way, but that's not the same thing as actually making money.

This just came out regarding the situation with Porter. Apparently the FBI is contradicting what the White House related to when they knew and how much they knew...

Remember what Michael Bloomberg said at the Democratic Convention: "Trump says he wants to run the country like he runs his businesses. God help us ! "

And it just keeps getting better and better. David Shulkin, VA Chief, used tax payers to pay for a vacation for him and his wife. When his wife was originally turned down to have her expenses paid, Shulkin's chief of staff changed the wording of an email to make it seem like Mr. Shulkin was going to get an award. Voila! Trip paid for by taxpayers.

Bari, a VA spokesman told the Washington Post last September, was traveling on “approved invitational orders,” which is why taxpayers footed the bill.

But now the VA’s inspector general says that was a lie. In a new report released Wednesday, Inspector General Michael J. Missal says Shulkin’s chief of staff doctored an email to make it appear that Shulkin was receiving an award in Denmark and then used this nonexistent honor to justify taxpayer funding of his wife’s travel.

According to the report, Vivieca Wright Simpson altered the text of an email to make it sound as if Shulkin was being honored at the U.S. ambassador’s residence in Copenhagen. She then took this email to ethics officials, who had previously denied a request to pay for Bari’s travel, and received approval to cover her $4,300 plane ticket with taxpayer funds.

“Secretary Shulkin did not receive an award or special recognition during this Europe trip,” Missal writes in the report.

There was also the issue of the Wimbledon tickets, which were unethically obtained, Missal found. The report says Shulkin asked for and received the tickets from Victoria Gosling, an executive with the 2016 Invictus Games, a sporting competition for wounded vets. Shulkin explained to VA ethics officials that Gosling was friends with his wife, allowing him to accept them based on a “personal friendship.”

But when the inspector general interviewed Gosling about the issue, she was unable to remember Bari’s first name.

After a long pause, Ms. Gosling was unable to recall Dr. Bari’s name, stating, “You actually – I think that kept throwing me. I’m actually having a genuine blank here.” Ms. Gosling was unable to recall Dr. Bari’s name before the interview concluded.
