I know this is late, but about that whole September 23....

At this point I honestly think christians use the "muh jesus is coming soon" mumbo jumbo just to sell their religion

And it's not really that affective because let's say someone does say "omg, the second coming is near. Maybe I should surrender myself to christ and read the bible"....after the world "ends" and nothing happens, the same person will feel stupid and their disbelief will increase

Bottom line is, we've seen the type of scare tactics christians and other cults use and at the end of the day, I guess that's just the nature of religious nuts

I don't know, what do you think?

I don't think it's always done as a scam. I think a lot of those who preach an imminent Judeo-Christian apocalypse are genuinely convinced, or at least have a psychological mechanism that prevents them from entertaining doubt.
