Trump Warns North Korea Will Be Met with "Fire & Fury"

-

-

Trump warns N.Korea will be met with "fire and fury" if threatens U.S.

-

BEDMINSTER, N.J./BEIJING, Aug 8 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday warned North Korea it would be met with "fire and fury" if it threatens the United States.

-

Earlier Pyongyang said it was ready to give Washington a "severe lesson" with its strategic nuclear force in response to any U.S. military action.

-

Washington has warned it is ready to use force if need be to stop North Korea's weapons ballistic missile and nuclear programs but has said it prefers global diplomatic action, including sanctions.

The consequences of a U.S. strike would potentially be catastrophic for South Koreans, Japanese and U.S. military personnel within range of North Korean retaliatory strikes.

-

"North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States. They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen," Trump told reporters at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

-

Earlier on Tuesday, Japan's Defense Ministry said "It is conceivable that North Korea's nuclear weapons program has already considerably advanced and it is possible that North Korea has already achieved the miniaturization of nuclear weapons and has acquired nuclear warheads."

The U.N. Security Council unanimously imposed new sanctions on North Korea on Saturday over its continued missile tests that could slash the reclusive country's $3 billion annual export revenue by a third.

-

North Korea said the sanctions infringed its sovereignty and it was ready to give Washington a "severe lesson" with its strategic nuclear force in response to any U.S. military action.

-

North Korea has made no secret of its plans to develop a nuclear-tipped missile capable of striking the United States and has ignored international calls to halt its nuclear and missile programs.

North Korea says its intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) are a legitimate means of defense against perceived U.S. hostility. It has long accused the United States and South Korea of escalating tensions by conducting military drills.

-

U.S. stocks fell, with the S&P 500 at a session low after Trump’s comment, while a widely followed measure of stock market anxiety spiked higher and was on track to close at a one-month high. The U.S. dollar index slightly pared gains as the safe-haven yen strengthened against the U.S. currency.

-

-

That's quite a red line you have there Mr. President........

Considering how often Kim Jong-Un threatens the US, either Mr. Donald Trump Un will have to show and prove he's serious with military action or be ridiculed internationally as his predecessor was.

I think it's been a little longer than that. This has been one of the oldest and most urgent threats in recent history. Both parties have failed to come up with a solution to rein in N. Korea's nuclear endeavors. Even going back to Lil Kim's dad. Lil Kim is simply finishing what his daddy started.

-

We as a nation have failed to come up with a solution. This shouldn't be a Red or a Blue thing. Unfortunately most will make it one.

Whatever happened to, speak quietly and carry a big stick? Isn't that the era when America was great?

Sorry quoted it wrong.

Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far.

Well, then. I suppose the world might get to find out who has the world's largest nuclear dick. Sir Tiny Hands or Captain Depends. Someone get Dennis Rodman on the phone.

I did not include this in my 2017 death pool. I knew I was missing something.

About time?

What does that mean - that we return an empty threat with our own? There is no reason for North
Korea to bomb the US; and until then, we are not going to meet North Korea's shenanigans with any
bombing of our own.

about time we do something to stop them and you repeated my point about an empty threat...but in some ways maybe the only thing worse than that is action... it is a potentially very bad thing... oh and kimmy is crazy he needs no reason to bomb us.... and i would not put that past trump.

What? Your logic doesn't make any sense. Trump is not going to do anything to stop North Korea
from arming itself, so unless your "about time" meant that we were past due with meeting North
Korea's empty threats with one of our own, we will just have to deal with a sovereign country de-
termining how it rightfully ought to arm itself.

All of this, of course, hinges on what Trump means by "fire and fury."

Because you said "about time" - which doesn't make any sense if you recognize that Trump's
response to North Korea's supposed armament also does not automatically mean we are at risk
of an imminent nuclear war.

So, your "about time" could only mean "about time we returned an empty threat with another
empty threat." "About time" indicates you think a military response to a sovereign counry arming
itself is justified and that you hope that we ought not make any empty threats but engage in
combat.

I'm only going by what you said, dude . . .

Sometimes, I wanna berate dumbass Orgers, but that doesn't mean I'm going to. My point is that
just because North Korea says it will do something doesn't mean they are going to do it. If North
Korea ever did strike a US territory, it would guarantee their losing a war.

NK postures in front of its people to give the illusion that it is powerful so as to remain power. And,
ethically, I've no problem with a sovereign country determining how it ought to arm itself.

Until they do Dasein. Kim is the real deal batshit crazy in my opinion. I do agree when Kim uses nukes on California or Chicago or one of our allies it will not be good for NK.

Well, it was around 4:30 PM EST yesterday when I started this thread from the headline news across the US. Since then, Kim Jong Un has threatened the US territory of Guam. I guess we can anticipate "Fire & Fury" at any moment now being that Lil Kim has called the president's bluff.......

-

I wonder if Generals Mattis, Kelly, Dunford were in on the president's tweet yesterday. I wonder if this is a part of a bigger strategic picture that us mere civilians couldn't possibly fathom. I wonder if the president knows something we don't, I mean... he is the president afterall....
