Great new book about the lack of jailed bankers: The Chickenshit Club.

Great title, ironically first uttered by of all people Jim Comey--remember him?

The book maps why no financial members are being prosecuted nowadays? He maps out the history and oddly it makes Republicans look better on that issue. During the 80s 1000 people were jailed. Only a few in the 90s. One with Obama. One! Obama and Eric Holder refused to go after big companies fearing loss of jobs or how it would hurt the system. Many of the top governmne prosecutors were picked by GOP--odd. Reagan, Clinton and Bush, Obama killed that. SEC was underfunded. Now its almost unheard of to prosecute any banker.

They go after low level criminals because it is easier to jail them. Even though Corporate crime costs society more money, they also kill more people. Remember this when you hear right wingers bleat about Chicago gun violence.

The main problem is that corporations use complex paperwork to hide crimes. They use client privilege to hide things. Conservatives say the government is too mean to them. The main culprit is obviously neo liberalism.

Obama comes off real awful here. He won the Pulitzer for the articles for the book.

On a similar issue, corporations can use unlimted money for lawyers, while low level criminals only get a thousand bucks for court appointed lawyer. Many of these lawyers are so overworked they fall asleep in court or drink or just plead out. This is why so many black men go to jail.

Eisinger did an great interview about his book on NPR the other day. Trump also demonized Goldman Sachs during the campaign - linking Hillary to Wall St - then installed the offenders in top financial positions.

Bankers it seems are above the law. Like many of the elite.
