I never liked Prince, but adored his music. I respect him more now obviously. Miss his lil butt. He could be a major assfart.

I wouldn't necessarily consider myself a "regular" P&R poster, but besides Music: NP, this is probably the side that I've posted on the most.

Historically, I've never posted a whole heck of a lot on Prince: M&M. It's not because i didn't like Prince. Its just that i never had much to say about most of the topics. I've been into Prince since the beginning, so a lot of the stuff that was talked about, i was already familiar with. Or were things that didn't interest me. And the stuff that did interest me(things like what chords were played, or what instruments were played, etc), i didn't need to comment on. I just lurked on those threads. And that's mostly just what i did.

Now, since Prince has died, i really can't deal with some of the stuff that goes on over there. Some of it just seems too pointless to comment on. And some of the other stuff is just too sad and depressing to think about(or comment on). I guess what I'm getting at is for my peace of mind, i don't go on Prince:M&M, much. For the most part, i prefer to keep my thoughts and memories about Prince, to myself.

This exactly. Besides, there's only so many inane "if Prince farted in a rainbow cloud and made it rain skittles, what would his toenail clippings taste like?" type threads a person can stand.

Well... Don't leave us hanging. What would they taste like? lol lol lol

Inane threads about nonsense is one of the reasons I started dabbling in P&R myself. wink

There's a reason I also take P&R only in small doses. lol

Came here in 2004 to follow setlists and read about the Musicology concerts. Used to trade bootlegs on Housequake also. Was way into GD forum and music non-Prince and then started getting into P&R

I'm big on Prince everything before Purple Rain ....never liked Purple Rain or Parade & Around the World in a day......after that back on it with Chaos & Disorder, Emancipation etc....fell back off after the Rainbow Children just wasn't feeling his music with some exceptions like Screwdriver, Dear Mr. Man etc....been to countless shows & had my fair share of close encounters....posted plenty on the music when fitted....on & on they go there about Michael Jackson/ Prince....I have nothing good to say about MJ & that talk to me is pointless so one day in bouncing around I noticed all the one sided hate for Trump here & one sided looks so I throw my 2 cents in here or there of course when stating facts folks here as everywhere come with broad blanket statements & insults typical for todays ways.

I find it fascinating seeing the political and social views of those who claim to be Prince fans. Similar to the way when I was younger, the most racist Italians, the ones who would beat the shit out of any Black or Latino who even walked in their neighborhood, all LOVED Disco and R&B and Funk and Hip-Hop...weird

for one it is not fair for you to compare people from some maybe true story from your youth of people you ASSUMED to be racist (but maybe they were just ass holes) to any of long time posters here. I have seen some racist posts by 'conservatives' and those people did not tend to last. But I have seen many examples racial bigotry come from the left wing posters.

That would be weird.

ANYBODY that judges another because of skin color (or any other physical trait determined by DNA) is an ignorant piece of shit.

That said, my OP question has nothing to do with race. I was asking because I noticed when looking at profiles, some regulars here seem to NEVER post about Prince, even when there is a new release or new leaks. I find that odd. If someone isn't interested in discussing Prince but wants to talk P&R there are lots of non-Prince sites that would be better suited I would think. But whatevs.

There have been posts in this forum that I considered to be racist. Interesting on a site devoted to a Black artist, so it made me think of some of the Italians I came across who loved Black CULTURE but hated Black PEOPLE. (It's not a "may be true story ", but something I personally witnessed numerous times). Or the story told by the great R&B singer Solomon Burke, who was booked for a gig, and when he got there it was Klan members!!

Prince and MJ fans always got labeled as gay. Just like heavy metal kids got labeled as stupid but they were the nerds covered in grease studying. Go to any metal show and talk to people and doctors, lawyers, traders are there. Couple of my friends are known in science, computer engineering field they were metal kids. I believe it would be to ones perception that this kid had a perception of blacks, latinos that varied that he seen some as good and some as bad. It could be just adolescence too that kids used to beat the shit out of one another and it was part of growing up. When I was a kid we didn't have all this PC and crap in school. JJ if someone like him would picked on me in school I would have beat him up and got suspended for a few days. I probably would have shown up at is house at 3am with a baseball bat threatening his entire family as I was a little nuts. It is not like that anymore.

One of the kids I grew up with would always pick on gays and he ended up moving to Miami and has come out. Comedian type always called others gay. Another kid I knew in school was constantly ass raped but a family member and he ended up gay but he was upfront about it. He liked the feeling of anal. People are definitely weird and interesting discussion.

Perhaps you never witnessed the bizarre spectacle of a car load of white Italian guys yelling " nigger" at a black person in the street while they were blasting Donna Summer and the Trampps...

Well I can tell you being a Prince or MJ fan back in the 80s meant being labelled gay by some. I think many would say same about someone blasting Donna Summer or Depeche Mode?

We probably tortured family members and deserved some name calling 2freaky. Can one see the difference between a kid just being a kid and calling another kid something horrible over all these political labels that is one of those life questions.

Social views mmmm like Prince being a fan of Alex Jones? Proven & fact that he listened to Alex Jones & liked.........it is called thinking for one self & not being brainwashed by your mainstream media...has nothing to do with race but you keep on keepin' with your racist chirping...the question had nothing to do with race.

Prince was a brilliant artist. He was also pretty confused in many instances when it came to social issues and religion and business.

And what did I say that could be considered "racist chirping" ? I was describing events I personally witnessed, and placed it in the context of what I have read in this forum .

I guess I thought to ask about this because there are several P&R regulars that when I check their profile, only post in this forum and other non-Prince oriented forums. That's a head scratcher for me.

Thanks all for sharing. My faith is renewed. biggrin wink cool

It's funny you say that, cuz I've checked P & R profiles, too. Today I checked my own profile and saw a whopping ONE Prince-related thread I'd remarked in. It isn't the best guage of fandom.
