Rachel Dolezal in SA: 'How dare she identify as black?'

19 April, 03:52 PM

Controversial US race advocate Rachel Dolezal, who represents herself as an African American, is in the country.

Since news broke in 2015 that she was born of caucasian parents, Dolezal has amplified her talks on non-racialism.

She participated in the Quest for a Non Racial South African Society dialogue at the Joburg Theatre on Wednesday, but left some "with more questions than answers".

dove

now with the tears?

like i mentioned before,, she's searching for pity to sway the masses to understand who she is trying to be.

excpert:

At the first round of the QfNRSASD dialogue held at the University of Johannesburg (UJ), Dolezal was relentlessly heckled by the audience. She maintained that race itself is a lie and that “we are one human race”. Ramalaine backed her up by saying “I consider it Rachel’s right to consider herself black.” The second round of talks will be held Wednesday night at the Joburg Theatre.

oh sister/brother. will she shed tears again?

So she's using the old 'we are all part of the human race' card, as her justification for pretending she's a Black woman born from two Black parents, yet she is fully aware both her parents are White. hmm Rachel needs therapy.

Well, you did sign up here at the Org to constantly talk about how all white folks are priviliged racists.

And many of the readers here live in European countries.

So, there ya go!

Rachel needs to look in the mirror and accept her true identity. She's a fraud, trying to benefit and profit from the racial injustices, many Black Americans and Black Africans have experienced in the past and present.

Yep! And what's sad is that many whites (like RodeoTroll here) are downplaying just how insulting and how this situation just stinks of white privilege. She's identifying as black when she's not and then she's going to African countries to talk about blackness? Yeah, where can I sign up to go visit a European country to talk about whiteness?

Lol, now you know the possibility of the types of responses you may receive if you tried to pull the same, fraudulent shit Rachel is pulling. In America, certain types of responses would be of no surpriise though. Many whites in America would probably see your claim as a threat to trying to steal their 'white privilege' benefits, that was specifically designed by their people, for their people, since the slavery era in America.

Rschel's fraudulent act, reminds me of an orger here, who for a short period of time, basically lied and pretended he was Black. (Real twisted guy). But...questions and suspicions about it, finally blew his cover, when he started attacking Black orgers for discussing race topics, and exposing any past or present racial injustices committed by Whites towards Blacks.

Then he started posting misinformation/lies, about the Black community, mainly 'all things negative', especially about Black males, (in which he still does), because he doesn't like the ugly and uncomfortable truths about racism in America, being discussed here. popcorn Anyway, about Rachel, she needs therapy for sure.

But you know, she could have 5% African heritage in that test, and end up saying she's part of a Zulu tribe before sundown.

100% agree that it could not have been a Black person who was posting like that. Turned out to be a non-Black male, who had to be just as delusional and nuts as Rachel, to fake his racial identity on a social media site, and thought he could get away with it. And about that clip, falloff well I have to say Samuel Jackson played, that character very well. I just think someone denying their racial identity, has some deep, personal issues. Rachel needs therapy.

Why so light skinned and blue eyed? Because it's often considered more desirable and attractive. The best of all worlds. Choosing her image and literally painting her own picture. The very definition of privileged. Who else could do that? Such a fraud.

The problem with Rachel is her ignorant, and stereotyped view of what she thinks looking Black is. She's desperate for attention. She's white, and she needs to get over it.

Anyone who was unsure whether or not the girl has mental issues just needs to look at those photos to find all the confirmation they need. Show those to any jury and the case would be closed right away. Psychiatrists exist to treat these kind of disorders. I wish her health and happiness, but she will not find it by lying to herself and the world about her identity.

Dolezal does not realize this but through her actions here, she is only taking an opportunity to
reframe what it can mean to be Black.

And she ought not be doing that. Her conception of race here, presented as being "trans-black",
is another example of white people falling head over heels in love with a component of Black
American culture, reappropriating it, and then in twenty or thirty years, claiming ownership of it.

I was just saying to my daughters recently that in a minute white people will have even stolen the history of slavery in America and claim it! I mean look at Eygpt...who woulda thunk?! lol

Anyways, this is not directed at anyone in particular...I just came on to say the posts in this thread are very hypocritical. I mean, what is wrong with being "trans black"? If it's now acceptable to be "trans" gender and whatnot, what is the difference in trans-black and trans-gender? I know...NOTHING!!!

Black folks been acting "trans" white for decades...doing all kinds of ungodly things to their hair to make it straight. Bleaching their skin to make it lighter and wearing blue, green, hazel colored contact lens and ain't nobody busted a sweat, but now that the desired being is black, now errbody got problems. That is very telling, imo. And the way I see it, very hypocritical, biased and childish.

If the fact that she "lied" about her race is what's got folks all disjointed, well "trans" gender people lie as well all the time. Remember the movie The Crying Game? Yeah, it's real. Folks need to got out of Rachel's mirror and take a long hard look into their own...see the Creator.

Plus we know all white people want to be black anyways, they just can't bring themselves to admit it! lol Will fight the feeling tooth and nail, even supposed themselves to be superior in the fight against themselves. Boy I tell ya, white people want to be black, black people want to be white. and everybody else in the middle are confused as hell as well. However, just as one has a right to dictate their sexual preferences and/or being, so does Rachel who wants to be black...and who could blame her, hell WE DA SHIT!!! and one day, if you are lucky and be nice white people in your next incarnation you will come back as a black person! lol

Exactly what I've been sayin' all along! I laugh at the people here who keep saying it's so much better to be white because of "privilige" and all that shit. It's white people who keep wanting to be black, not the other way around. Ever heard a black person say they wish they was white? Nahh, me neither.

Wish I had soul and my music attacked
I am so white, shine like the sun
Just like we've been counting down to the one

Black Americans straightening their hair as a result of living with and accepting the onerous weight
of white standards of beauty as a result of American Original Sin is not at all commensurate with
Rachel Dolezal's self-conceptualization of being "trans Black."

It's not her lying about her race that is cause for my concern; instead, I am alarmed by a white person
thinking s/he is somehow justified with informing us of what it can mean to be "Black". White people
have no ethical or moral justification for redifining "Black".

Black Americans do not want to be "white" in the same fashion that Rachel Dolezal is reimagining what
it can mean to be "Black." This is true because you do not see Black Americans re-self conceptualizing
themselves as being "trans white." Instead, any Black American who desires to shrug off their "Black-
ness" is most likely doing so as a result of having that "Black-ness" considered "ugly," or "unpure,"
or "inferior" by white people. And most Black Americans simply want to not be marginalized and/or
oppresed by white people. Dolezal, on the other hand, is not "trans Black" because her whiteness
was conceived as being "ugly," or "unpure," or "inferior" and she is definitely not wanting to be Black
because Blacks have marginalized and oppressed white people.

Good to see you back sweetea, but what kind of message do you think Rachel is sending to others, who absorb self-hatred of their own racial identity and culture? Do you not think she is condoning, that it is ok to dismiss one's racial identity of their parents as well?

There's nothing wrong with embracing, respecting and acceptance of another group's racial/ethnic!or cultural identity, while not denying your own. Many people have been emulating what they believe is part of another racial/ethnic group's culture, for years, but most don't deny, disrespect or dismiss their own, as though it has no value. My concern is the condoning of self-hatred and one who promotes the ideology that it is ok to deny or dismiss one's racial identity.

See, Rachel could parade emulating what she believes is 'being Black and looking Black', all day, but at the end of the day, she could go home and rinse her brown makeup down the drain, and still enjoy the benefits of white privilege. But what kind of message does she send to a young, Black girl out there, who may be absorbing self-hatred of her racial identity, and wants to identify as 'White', but will not have the benefits of white privilege, and she knows she cannot wash her skin color down the drain or avoid racial discrimination towards her, by many within society, who will judge her as Black, based on societal standards?

You mentioned how, many Black women straighten their hair, dye it blond, wear color contacts, etc., but how many who of those women go around denying they are Black or claiming they are White? And who are the biggest criticizers of those Black women, who go outside of 'being natural?' You guessed it.. the Black community. So now... how come it is not ok for Blacks to have an opinion on a white woman, claiming to be 'trans-black?' and emulating hairstyles, etc., of what she believes identifies as 'being or looking Black? Would respectfully love your opinion on this.
