According to scientific study the rich are assholes! On things like cheating, stealing, cutting off people in traffic, lying, the rich are worse than the rest of us. This is nothing new to my side, but remember that our society loves rich people and we give them too much power over the rest of us. Money is the root of all people and science proves it:

I think (and this is a big generalisation) that a lot of rich people get lost in the fantasy thinking that they somehow "deserve" their wealth. "The universe has provided it to me for some grand purpose so don't get in my way" kind of mentality, when in many cases it was a combination of luck, upbringing, inheritance etc. And this then gives them this false attitude that they can treat the rest of us like garbage. Does being rich make people assholes or does being an asshole make it easier to acquire lots of money. Maybe a bit of both. Anecdotally I know lots of Lovely rich people and come across lots of very poor people who are awful human beings. The opposite is also true. However, I have noticed that since I started working in a very affluent suburb the drivers seem to be far more aggressive and discourteous toward each other. By Daniel Lefferts for Bookish: One out of every 10 Wall ...psychopath, the CFA Institute (an investment and financial analysis organization) reports in the latest issue of CFA Magazine. That makes psychopathy 10 times more prevalent among New York’s financial elite than among us plebeians, for which the accepted statistic is a more palatable one in 100. Psychopaths “generally lack empathy and interest in what other people feel or think,” according to the study. “At the same time, they display an abundance of charm, charisma, intelligence, credentials, an unparalleled capacity for…manipulation, and a drive for thrill seeking.” That Wall Street should harbor more than its share of psychopaths, then, will come as no shock to those frustrated by the entitlement and greed of the one percent. The study also shows how easily psychopaths can pass, however, blending into our lives as co-workers, friends and even romantic partners. Who are the psychopaths in your life? Here are five important questions to ask, and the books to help you answer them.

I've seen my fair share of rich assholes - especially here on Long Island, working in a service-based industry - and the occassional wealthy person who's nice.
I think that if you're old-money, then you are out of touch with reality and can easily fall into the Marie Antoinette mentality. If you're new-money, then you may've had to claw your way to the top and step on other people to get where you are.

Honestly, like everything in life, there are no real stereotypes. I work exclusively with wealthy people. Granted retired wealthy people. And they are nicer than just about anybody.
I always figured that they were so nice becasue they had nothing to worry about. Not money, not their car's breaking down, just golf.

The owners of my company are like that. Semi-retired and loving life. Happy as sin.
