The truth about drug companies.

We all feel so sorry for the hapless drug companies, but we shouldn't because they are cashing in--royally!

According to this book, they are bilking us all:

They have the highest profit margin of any major Fortune 500, at 18.5 percent. Most corporations make around 3.3 percent. Even banks make around 13.5 percent.

The big fallacy is that they pay so much for researching new drugs. It does cost 11 percent of their earnings for R&D, which is high, but they spend 36 percent on advertising! Part of advertising is giving payoffs to Politicians like Max Baucus. Think of this when you watch tv. No wonder the media will not go after them.

A lot of R&D comes from Government spending, in research hospitals and colleges. The drug companies can freely make profit from research paid for by our tax money--then they buy off your Senator.

Remember this info if you ever debate a Tea Party moron or a conservative family member.

Shareholder equity is a massive 33.2 percent. No wonder the stock market loves drugs.

I don't think tea protesters are saying 'let drug companies make what they want!' They don't want the government running healthcare, which vary different.
I think that drug companies should be forced to make a certain % of drugs available on a sliding scales.

How about how insurances companies profits make under 3% margin? Those money grubbing bastards!

Lawyers and politician lobbying is why this thing is a mess. That's why I don't want them running my healthcare.
