I'm looking for it. Hopefully I'll see it before week's end.

What were your thoughts? Moore was interviewed on NPR with regards to the film and he seemed very candid and down to earth about it.

I'll write more about it tomorrow because I'm exhausted right now but I think everyone should see this movie.

First thought: Michael Moore is full of shit. I love the guy but he is soooo full of shit. He puts stuff out there without backing it up with facts.

I hate when anyone doesn't tell the whole truth. He talked about how Bush was responsible for the 700 billion dollar bailout but he left out the fact that Obama releasedt he other half of it with no stipulations to Wall Street. He also left out personal accountability for some of his subjects.

Overall, I think everyone should see this movie. The parts that are true will make you angry. I felt totally helpless and hopeless afterward.

Plan to watch it soon. I don't get the religious freaky stuff of the flix but bet it will have lots of good info and humor. MM usually delivers.

Would Jesus day trade? Would God approve of the DOW? Who the fuck cares. BUT some of the corruption MM exposes will be cool to see.

He footnotes all of his movies. How entertaining would it be to just sit through two hours of factchecking?

Matt Taibbi just zeros in on why we should not be so critical of Moore's movie flaws and look at the big picture:

http://www.alternet.org/b...o_kick_ass

We just love to dump on others, knowing full well that we are not doing a fucking thing, me included. I mean, how many who post here do activism on a regular basis? We sure love to talk a good game. The right wing believes in action, we don't, because we are too busy talking about flaws in a fucking movie instead of the points that make the basis of the movie important.

Sure Moore sometimes needs editing, but the basic thrust of his movies are spot on. We need to get off our asses and do something. Before it's too late. At least Moore is making these movies, risking something, while we sit on the couch eating bon bons, listening to too much Prince..lol

I've been trying to see the daggone thing all week but all of my pals have the flu.

I was going to go Friday or Saturday till I found out that I have a wake and funeral to attend. sad

If push comes to shove I'll go by myself on Sunday...I love Mike's films.

A "real" capitalist lives off the unpaid labour of his workers. Michael Moore isn't in that category in any meaningful sense. He has a group of people who work for him, but he earns his money basically from his creativity. Pieces of art are not in the same way reproductive as cars, hamburgers, children's toys, or computers (on which people like 'seekingtruth' lol type their unsubstantiated innuendo).

I went to Moore's site and
his facts are kinda bullshit because to me, he's only citing one source and you can always find statistics to agree with what you want them to. But most important is the relationship of Wall Street to the White House, how investors do not understand some investment instruments and the fact that we need to rise up and get our voices heard.

Well, you have Henry Paulson who was Sec of the Treasury and Timothy Geithner, who is the current Sec of the Treasury. Paulson ran Goldman Sachs and Geithner ran the Fed. Paulson cut the back alley deal to get the 700 billion dollar bailout done, against taxpayer wishes, and lo and behold, who is one of the companies that benefited? Goldman Sachs. I agree with Moore that Wall Street is running the White House. My feelings on Geithner are personal but I believe he did a shitty job running the Fed and the bailout of AIG and any other company was a mistake. I think the country would be better served with an economist as Sec of Treasury and not people looking out for their own interests but the greater good.

After seeing the film I'm back, as promised...needless to say, I had to calm down before I could write without using a whole bunch of profanity towards the theiving bastids and their enablers who are the focus of the movie.

The first thing that struck me was something that no one else noticed or questioned. Why has this film recieved an R rating? There was no excessive profanity, no nudity, sex, gore or gratituitous violence. There is no reason whatsoever for anything beyond a PG rating.

The second thing was how Moore draws a parellel between the Roman Empire and present day America showing how the seeds of decay have been planted as eventually happens in all empires.

As for Moore's facts, I've read where there are people who have some issues about the way some of the facts are presented, but the facts themselves remain true nevertheless. For example, he only briefly touches on the personal responsibility of borrowers in the "bank of me" scene and spends a lot more time dissecting the activity of the banks. I didn't have a problem with it because the FBI bears out his assertion by reporting that the mortgage meltdown was indeed caused by the banking industry fraud for the most part.

http://www.fbi.gov/public...raud07.htm

Not only that, in the course of my work, I have personally seen some of the documents with my own eyes and heard the testimony of elderly and uneducated people who were specifically targeted and blatantly lied to by these vultures.

I was surprised to see our little courthouse in the skyline scene and even more suprised to see Max in the scene where the nine police cars responded to the house where the people refused to leave after being evicted.

http://takebacktheland.bl...other.html

Max has been an activist in this community for several years now. The last initiative I worked on with him on was the Umoja Village movement.

My main criticism would be that Mike didn't go after the current administration hard enough because the foxes are still in charge of the damn hen house and that's bad news.

I agree that everyone should see this movie but moreso those who still don't understand why unregulated capitalism is not some benign and benevolent system, otherwise Mike is just preaching to the choir.

Most of all I hope more of us will get informed, get motivated and get off our asses.

"After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill...the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill...you stay in wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes."
