Is there a God?

I have second thoughts at times but does God have any true existence to anyone?
I believe in higher power so I guess I'm going to hell wave. The God that everyone knows and loves doesn't exist in my world, God is neither man or women,
it's apowerful being that has my life all set up, the most people believe frightens me, especially the whole gays are going burn in hell theory.
I don't have a religion I just believe in a higher being and that's that. biggrin

i believe there is some higher power, but I don't believe we have any concept or clue about what this higher power might be. For lack of a better term we use the word "God" but all religions are just stabs in the dark trying to fill in holes that are unfillable.

what s the quality of a mind required to experience whether there is a God or not?

One better than our flawed, little recording devices thats for sure. If I ever see/hear ghosts, gods or anything of the like I'm going to get some top drawer counselling and medication.

A super computer was built in a government lab and they asked it, "Is there a God?" the super computer processed the information and came back with the answer... "Not enough processing power 2 answer the question."

So they linked 2gether all the computers in the building and asked it again. "Is there a God?" The super computer replied... "Not enough processing power 2 answer the question."

So they linked 2gether all the computers in the city and asked it again. "Is there a God?" The super computer again replied... "Not enough processing power 2 answer the question."

So they linked 2gether all the computers in the country and asked it again. "Is there a God?" The super computer once more gave the answer... "Not enough processing power 2 answer the question."

So they linked 2gether all the computers in the world and asked it again. "Is there a God?" The super computer replied... "There is now." smile

I'm an artist

My favorite subjects are nature, the 1000's of ethnic groups in the world, mythology, Prince, celestial beings

When I was about 6 I remember going outside of the house in the early Spring and looking up I saw about 3 shades of blue, different shapes of clouds and the sun of course and the moon

And my first thought was someone did that

My parents were not religious and didn't push or talk about any beliefs they had then
I actually wrote down my thoughts as best as a 6 year old could(my parents encouraged that kind of stuff) and still had it along with many other drawings I did even before 6

Now where I come from
We don't let society tell us how it's supposed 2 be
Our clothes, our hair, we don't care
It's all about being there...

I think that you have shown why many people turn to an idea about God. They want to be comforted. Most people who believe in God aren t really interested in finding out whether God exists or not or leading a religous life. They want to be comforted, just like the drunk who is comforted by the bottle.

If you loved that you'll probably dig this as well...Isaac Asimov's The Last Question. It is said to be his favorite of all the stories he wrote. I first heard it when I was 21. The recording was being played during a planetarium show. It has stayed with me in a most profound way ever since.

What a beautiful story...I can relate.

I'm a creative spirit too. As a tiny child, I used to draw on every blank surface in our house. Finally, my mother gave up and let me use the wall in the upstairs hallway to my heart's content. When I ran out of space I'd draw pictures on the bottom of the chairs and tables as well as adding characters and dialogue to my story-books. lol

The sky remains an endless source of fascination for me, especially the night sky. For as long as I can remember the stars and the vast expanse of space have had a profound effect on me for whatever reason. As a kid, I used to lie on the grass or the hood of my mom's car for hours just gazing at the stars and I could name all the constellations. It seems that I can feel a sense of oneness in Spirit and the connectedness of creation that kind of takes me out of myself. What I experience at those times cannot be properly decribed in words.

My favorite subjects are mythology, astronomy, science fiction, fantasy, astrology, art, music, dance, literature, history, (especially Egyptian)...and Princey too. biggrin

My family is Baptist but was never closed minded, (even when I joined the Episcopal church). My mom always encouraged my sense of curiousity and wonder and praised my creative expression in all it's forms. Nobody ever had a better mom! I don't know of any theologian who could interpret sacred writings and teachings as well as she could...including Eastern philosophic teachings. She was firmly grounded in sprituality and not limited by religious dogma or doctrine.

As a result, my ideas of God and spirituality are somewhat unique although I still gladly partake in fellowship with others. For the most part, I'm equally comfortable in a Church, Temple, Mosque, or even silent meditation at the beach alone or with a group of people.

Odd I guess...but I love being me! lol
