FOR THE HOMO HATERS OUT THERE!!

Thanks for this video link. I think that just made my evening!

It makes me feel better after seeing one of my facebook "friends" being a fan of marriage only between a man and woman.

Not a "friend" any longer, btw!

I support the idea that the marriage is between 1 man and 1 woman, if that's what you're asking.

You know what....if somebody believes that marriage should be between a man and a woman, there is nothing wrong with that. If somebody believes same sexes should marry theres nothing wrong with that. People are different, and have different beliefs. If you dont want to marry another of the same sex, please dont do it. If the opposite sex grosses you out, please, refrain from marrying them.

Just respect that we dont all desire the same things. Thats what this whole friggin constitution thing is supposed to protect--different beliefs.

If you cannot even be friends with somebody who disagrees with your point of view on this topic, whatever it may be, perhaps you should look in the mirror and realize you are intolerant.

....And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular; but one must take it because it is right.

This is a person that I am friends with in RL. I just don't want to see her intolerant updates on Facebook.

I have friends with very different beliefs than me, I just don't want to deal with it in cyberland. I'd rather have a real discussion with them.

Please don't be so quick to judge me.

If I judged you unfairly I apologize, but once again you're calling your friend out as being intolerant, when it seems as if you're not willing to tolerate her beliefs on the issue. Please read StillGotIt's post above yours.

yes and no.

people can have an opinion that marriage should be a man and a woman, absolutely.

but they shouldn't be able to deny equal coverage of law to people and legally oppress them because they don't agree with them.

this issue runs a bit deeper than just opinions.

hmmm I have to respond to this because I don't think not being friends with someone over their stance on the topic makes you intolerant. Not allowing and accepting that others will have other views makes you intolerant but as for a friend that is 1. a person who knows and likes another. 2. a person who favors and supports. 3. a person who belongs to the same side or group.

certainly you can be friend-ly and on good terms and non-hostile towards everybody but there's nothing wrong with not being friends with someone if on a personal level you disagree.

If someone you know smokes pot all day long but you see fit not to be friends over it does that make you intolerant of pot smokers?

I can surely justify not being friends with someone for actively working against my equality and happiness. that would be different for someone with an opinion but while staying neutral to the outcome of the situation if it really doesn't affect their life.

Okay...I'll give you that one. Friends is a bit strong as a requirement. But hostility....that is the thing that is key.

uh...yes! If you condemn someone for the action of smoking pot than you are in fact condemning all pot smokers. After all, what action would your potential friend and all pot smokers have in common?...smoking pot!

So you would be a. intolerant of their actions or b. a hypocrite

DOMA, for one.

29 states have laws banning gay marriage, to say nothing of the states which have laws banning gay people from adopting, and such.

If I'm not mistaking, DOMA was to clear up the meaning of the word marriage. And by law it was determined that marriage is between 1 man and 1 woman. The law was put into place to uphold that and not to oppress homosexuals.

which just a nice way to say "you don't get full coverage under the law unless you conform to our belief system, and we are going to create laws to ensure that this happens"

that's oppression.

Than how do you choose your friends? not everyone is your friend, one issue or another draws the lines between people and that's not always a bad thing and doesn't always makes you intolerant of them (? maybe i'm just using "intolerance" wrong?). it's not the act of smoking pot but the smoking pot all day that keeps you from being friends. does that make you intolerant of or even condemning all day long pot smokers?

People say gays want to be tolerated but do we really? maybe we just want to coexist while at the same time making strides to improve our lives.

Edit
confused is being intolerant even a bad thing? There are things i don't permit in MY life but I don't prevent others from doing them or seeking legal protection unless it brings harm to MY life.

Maybe if this was some kinda new concept or idea aimed only towards the homosexual community. But in fact, the idea that marriage is between 1 man and 1 woman isn't new and homosexuals aren't the only ones affected by it. Mormons are asked to follow this law as well.

But it really doesn't matter what either you or I think, because it is impossible for two homosexuals to be married. They can exchange rings, dress up and go on a honeymoon, but what they are doing, by definition, is not marriage!

I know you want to have your cock and eat it to, but when a homosexual decides to give in to their desires and live that lifestyle, it means giving up certain things. Like procreating naturally and of course marriage.

Is it just the word marriage? would you be ok if we had civil unions with better protection for if something were to happen to my partner or I the nurse and doctor wouldn't bat an eyelash if either of us needed to be in the hospital room and have life or death decisions made? along with shared health benefits for the person I'VE chosen to live my life with? etc.?

and why do you think it takes so long to get a solution from people who might not be for gay marriage but say they agree with civil unions?

when people say "no you can't have this" why can't they help to get past the issue by saying "..but you can have this"?

Huh? The "rule" would be the same as it is now. In order for you and your live in girlfriend to have benefits that married couples have, you get married.

As for health insurance, I just feel your living the door wide open for insurance fraud. Roommates claiming to be together just for the benefits.etc...

"living the door wide open"? for insurance fraud. What? What's the difference if a gay couple enter into a civil union for benefits as opposed to hetero couple marrying for benefits?
It happens.

Jus sayin'.

tradition is no excuse. slavery was a tradition for an enormous amount of time.

and what mormons are you talking about? gay mormons?

But it really doesn't matter what either you or I think, because it is impossible for two homosexuals to be married. They can exchange rings, dress up and go on a honeymoon, but what they are doing, by definition, is not marriage!

according to your definition. thankfully, the laws, in fact, are changing and in the places they already have been your statement is untrue, and is merely your narrow-minded opinion.

one of the wonderful things about america is the fact that you can have your opinion, but i, and millions like me, don't have to live our lives to suit you.

I know you want to have your cock and eat it to, but when a homosexual decides to give in to their desires and live that lifestyle, it means giving up certain things. Like procreating naturally and of course marriage.

umm, homosexuals can procreate naturally, just not with each other. and in several states and more progressive countries we can also marry each other.

and you guys aren't really going to be able to stop that from happening. at most, the whole anti-gay marriage movement does nothing but prolong the inevitable, and is part of the reason the right and rabid christianity is losing ground rapidly.

shrug
