Should we be truly afraid? Obama needs to speak on this tonight.

That was painful to watch, its one thing to think about this happening , but its quite another to actually see the hate being openly expressed with zeal. We still have so much more work to do, so much more hatred to overcome. These people are angry at Obama and fear what he can potentially bring to the table, equality, and respect for black people.

I think it is ridiculous that Senator Obama even has to go through this nonsense. Never in the history of an election have I seen a candidate have to be forced to explain himself this much to prove his credibility. Not to say that anyone running for President shouldn't, but this is by far has gone way too far. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out, and I believe those voters who do not want to vote for Obama, is using the Ayers excuse and the so-called muslim thing as a cover-up, and to save themselves from being embarassed to say they don't want to vote for him because he is a Black Man. I am convinced about that now. What surprises me is some of these Americans act like this country has never been guilty of all the atrocities they "allowed" to happen and still in denial about it, but point to Senator Obama as though he is the devil and blames him for everyone else's thoughts and actions they find undesirable.

i think these people have been led astray by virtue of the fact of obama's association with ayres. ayres really was a domestic terrorist, back in the day.

considering ayres' connection to weather underground, it isn't that far a stretch to call ayres a 'terrorist'. some of those folks in the clip look.. older, which means they were probably around to read about weather underground during its violent days and its "declaration of war" against the United States. but i don't think obama was really even old enough to participate in that movement, or take part in any of the bombings since that was circa 1969 and 1970. thereabouts. i do hope obama has a chance to address this tonight since a lot of people have heard about ayres and his history [Edited 10/15/08 12:14pm] Are you HONESTLY concerned abou this issue? Or are you simply making an argument for these fearful white folk? I stay Woke.

Yes...it's much scarier to actually see it as opposed to just reading a news article. Racism is like an insidious virus, that no one has a cure for and can't be seen.....it just keeps reinfecting the weakest minds...

There were Republicans on that board as well. If this man is a real terrorist, why isn't he in jail right now? Does Ayers still believe in and act on radical views from 4 decades ago? You can't even be serious with this. I stay Woke.

Racists are afraid of "compassion" for the human race as a whole, that's basically what that fear is. That a part of the humanity within their soul may be exposed because it's been filled with hate/evil and ignorance for so long, that they don't know what it actually feels like to have compassion for a race outside of their own, who is also part of the human race. They convince themselves they are a part of a superior race that does not exist to feed their insecure egos. When it comes down to "truth" they will eventually find out they are no better or above the guy standing right next to them. Sounds pretty much like they are afraid of being human if you ask me. I mean when you think about it, how stupid is it to hate someone because of their skin color, as though any of us have a choice of what skin color we choose to be born with? [Edited 10/15/08 12:23pm] I agree wholeheartedly with this sentiment, insecurity and the need to feel superior is why labels were invented in the first place.

Sarah Palin declared, "This is someone who sees America as imperfect enough to pal around with terrorists who targeted their own country."

OK. From that perspective I agree. I thought you were losing sleep at night he needs to explain the hell out of it! obama has been accused of 1) being linked to a known, domestic terorist (and it's a fact that ayres was a big old bomb-favoring, anti-establishment, declare war on the US dude back in the day. no question about that). obama has also been accused of denying any tie to ayres, then later admitting the tie to ayres. all this is the basis for this YouTube clip, and the assertion that mcpain and failin are making that no 'domestic terrorist' should be elected to the presidency. if he cannot refute this crap he is in trouble. at least, with those folk in the clip.

If Palin feels no one who should be elected to the Presidency who palled (sp?) around with domestic terrorists, as she put it, then we would have to go into America's history books and erase the Presidents that allowed domestic terrorism to happen when they were Presidents. She needs to check her history notes. http://prince.org/msg/15/286132

[Edited 10/15/08 12:46pm] no kidding. but, right now and for the purposes of this election people are reacting to this issue. personally, i feel our current president is one of the biggest terrorists, ever. so the point is quite ironic.

Collective ignorance is a powerful fomenting agent of hatred. The way in which reactionaries are able to cultivate a culture of sensationalist fear is remarkable and terrifying. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

This is not acceptable. Also, I question whether McCain is really fit to be President, but I do not know. Palin scares me very much. That is what I am afraid of more than any terrorist...Palin as President. Damn....that is scary as hell to me.

No actually I'm not. The reaction on the Ayers matter does not surprise me. In the meantime I agree that our current president is one of the biggest domestic terrorists in this country, for sending our soldiers into an illegal war in Iraq, and BS'ing the American people as to why they are there. Unfortunately, when he leaves office, I doubt these same voters who are questioning Obama's so-called connection to Ayers, won't go after Bush about his lies and connections, as he will more than likely get away with it. Not surprised. [Edited 10/15/08 13:11pm] http://prince.org/msg/15/286132

[Edited 10/15/08 13:09pm] i agree george bush should be tossed in jail and never, ever let out to enjoy his ill-gotten gains. and it sucks that he gets away with breaking the law again and again while obama is drilled for this issue. the last town hall debate, last week, was SO tame/boring. none of the real hot-button issues were debated, it seemed like both candidates stuck to the tried and true. maybe tonight will be more... fiery.

Well, we all know by now, that McCain probably plans on using the Ayers situation, to keep promote negativity and keep suspicion in the minds of voters. But I'm sure Obama is prepared for that and hopefully is on top of his game with much to throw back at McCain. In my opinion, McCain is desperate in using this Ayers situation against Obama very late in the game. Also, McCain's campaign is getting negative press because of the racist rants by many of the voters within McCain's rallies, so he may be forced to cool it with the Ayers situation. It could go either way tonight. Although I am not a McCain supporter, I have lost any respect I had for him at all, because when he brought Sarah Palin on board is when I noticed when most of the hate rants started at some of these rallies. I hope now that he sees she was a big mistake to bring on board. This has been noticed by many voters, and now many Americans are seeing that if McCain happens to win and then Sarah gets pushed in as President, the hate atmosphere that she already helped to project will worsen. Besides, she is not qualified to be VP or President in my opinion, because she just seems so out-of-touch with reality and it doesn't seem like she actually pays attention to questions she is asked by media sources. It seems like she just gives any answer off the top of her head, and that in itself is scary. I don't see her intelligent enough to hold the VP or President's position. She comes off as though this whole election is some kind of beauty pageant competition. [Edited 10/15/08 17:31pm] http://prince.org/msg/15/286132
