Very true. Unfortunately I expect to see situations like this if Obama is elected. You will have some racists that will come out and do stuff like this or you see nooses surfacing again, for people trying to make a statement about their distaste for Obama.

Besides, they'll will get his ass when he gets in prison unless they put him in protective custody. I like your idea of a hate crimes registry. It is important for people to know what is living next door to them. I think that is a good way of helping to reduce racist acts. This way, people will think before they go out and do something stupid.

Very true. We all need to stand up regarding who commits the hate crime, in order to stamp these racist acts out together, and let people know Americans will not tolerate it anymore. I agree with you that too often, if the victim is not someone from an individual's community that many of us don't make enough noise about it.

It's like when you hear of a young kid getting shot down by another teenager, if it is not in one's community, then everybody turns a blind eye. For any child getting murdered the entire society should stand up against it, not only when it happens in separate communities.

I think that when Obama becomes President we know we will hear of some of these acts happening, but I think people will finally get so tired of it happening, that we will all be forced to stand together and demand that it stop. Secondly, if these things do happen, will we have "tit for tat" acts? I just looked at some of the comments that noimageatall posted and see how it seems to be going that route in America. Americans need to wake up and pay attention, because the last thing anyone wants is a race war. That would destroy America completely.

I watched the "Last Lynching in Alabama" on the discovery channel that Aries III posted about on another thread. I only caught the last half, so maybe someone else that saw it could fill us in on why these KKK members decided to murder this young man. From what I viewed, it was a true story about a young, black male 19 years old, which I think took place in the mid 60s, where the KKK stopped him and asked for directions, pulled him a car, beat him and sliced his neck, then hung him. I missed the first half of the show, but Ted Koppel I believe had interviewed this young man's sister, who of course is older. From what I understand the mother of this young man who was murdered helped to bring part of the KKK in that area of Alabama down.

This is what I am talking about that we will see "tit for tat" sort of like "You hurt one of mine, now I will hurt one of yours" mentality. Let's hope that people will keep their senses and not take that route.
