Just a Feelin'...I Think He's Gonna Win I was just chilling this weekend, taking in all the crazy shit that's going on with the stock market; realizing just how fucked up the economy is. Then I just read over Stymie's thread about Republicans denouncing McCain and voting for "The O" and it hit me - With JUST 23 days left, I REALLY feel Obama's gonna win this shit.

Sure, race will play a role, of course, but overall, it's about just how fucked up Bush left the States. Near RUINS. Coupled with the fact that Obama hasn't gotten "down and dirty" like McCain has, which has pretty much endeared him to a lot of people, especially the undecided, I think he's gonna take it. "People want CHANGE". Corny? Yep. But damn, it's DEAD-ON for these times. People see how fucked up it got and basically the only way to go is UP at this point. I just don't see people voting for a clown that graduated 894/899 and some dingy broad that went to 6 different colleges and ONLY has a Journalism degree. What irresponsible and highly uninformed person votes for THAT ticket? I'm DEAD SERIOUS, too. Who votes for that? Why? To say that this shit will be historic is like saying Prince is "pretty decent" at what he does. November 5th, 2008 (hopefully, if there isn't a need for recounts and bullshit like that) will be remembered in the same lot that July 4th, 1776, December 7th, 1941, and September 11, 2001 are remembered: A Black man becomes leader of the free world. Damn. Deep. Ok, that was just my 2 cents to put in with all this craziness going on. Now, I need a Zinger. Love your spirit and I too feel exactly the same way... Well, it was certainly warranted. America's racist history and mistreatment against Black people have proven time and time again why there should be suspicion on the acceptance of a Black person in aspects of its society that normally wants absolutely nothing to do with Blacks, especially in politics, and especially something of this magnitude. But I hope a bunch of us suspicious ones are wrong about this, and this VERY CAPABLE man gets the justifiable nod. Then I think about my 22 year old son, who now lives in Ohio, and calls me every other day to talk Politics. Two years ago, I couldn't get him to watch the news! Obama just thrills him. I love hearing how much he can't wait to cast his vote for Obama. My daughter has been out with her friends and she'd call me to have me check to make sure that some guy that's trying to get her phone number at the club is a registered voter. That just tickles me something silly. Obama's already making changes in this crazy mixed up world we live in and he hasn't even got in office yet. I can't wait to see what he will accomplish once he does. Ok, I'm done. You're about to get me all emotional and there's still too much work to be done for all that. I hope Obama wins. But it ain't over. No one can afford to be complacent just yet. There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

Damn. Deep. Ok, that was just my 2 cents to put in with all this craziness going on. Now, I need a Zinger. Mutha, love your post. I can read it coming from your soul and can relate. If Obama wins I don't think any words in the world will describe the feeling many of Americans will feel, and I am not just talking Black Americans, but other Americans as well. Who would of thought that a country with a history of Jim Crow, Segregation, the Martin Luther King and Malcolm X eras, who would ever see a Black Man almost less than 3 weeks from possibly becoming President of this country. It seems possible at this point and on the morning after election day or maybe the evening of it, will have so many Americans glued to their television sets, wondering if that moment will become a reality. But like you said, if we don't see the nightmare of recounts from 2000, then the day after election day or that day itself will have its mark in history if the first Black Man is voted in as President of the U.S. It will be phenomenal for a country which has breathed racism and has the unfortunate history of slavery on its shoulders. Barack represents many persons of color and also many Americans that want to see change happen in this country, and who have come together from all walks of life to make it possible for Barack Obama to make it as far as he has right now at this moment. The historic moment will be in the hands of the voters, and if he wins, it will be the voters that will be the ones responsible for that mark in history, and if he wins, all those who supported him and would make that moment possible should be proud that they helped to make that historic "change." in a Presidential moment in U.S. history. I don't expect Barack Obama to work miracles, but I wonder if he realizes what this means to many Americans, who will not be able to help being overwhelmed by that moment. Barack seems to be taking this calm yet dignified and knowing that he will not just be the First Black President, but at the same time the President for all Americans. . http://prince.org/msg/15/286132

We just ahad a section in the paper about black support for Obama..and they said a little girl on a bike said while pumping her fist, "he's not going to win because he is black!" That is sad but from what we know...this is a truth in society. I see that now though after this economy went downhill people are turning another cheek and caring about themselves. I think I may cry for hope in America if Obama wins...I can already feel the tears now. [Edited 10/13/08 7:31am]
