Another abortion thread: Palin is a nutjob

Posted on CNN today and this is not the whole article:

"A vote for Barack Obama is a vote for activist courts that will continue to smother the open and democratic debate that we deserve and that we need on this issue of life," she said. "Obama is a politician who has long since left behind even the middle ground on the issue of life."

Obama opposes any constitutional amendment to overturn the Supreme Court's decision in Roe v. Wade and disagreed with Supreme Court ruling to uphold the "Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act." He did not cast a vote on Prohibiting Funds for Groups that Perform Abortions amendment in 2007.

Palin opposes abortion in all cases, including rape and incest, except when a mother's life is in danger, and said she believes Roe v. Wade should be overturned and the decision given to the states.

McCain voted for the Prohibit Partial Birth Abortion bill in 2003 and "yes" for Prohibiting Funds for Groups that Perform Abortions amendment in 2007. He believes Roe v. Wade is a flawed decision that must be overturned, and also supports the Supreme Court ruling upholding the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act.

Palin also talked about a remark Obama made about sex education while campaigning in Johnstown in March, when he told a voter he didn't want his daughters "punished with a baby" or "punished with an STD" if they were not educated about sex and made a mistake.

"So I listened when our opponent defended his unconditional support for unlimited abortions and he said he said that a woman shouldn't have to be 'Punished with a baby,' " Palin said as the audience jeered at Obama. "Ladies and gentlemen, he said that right here in Johnstown. 'Punished with a baby.' It's about time we called him on it."

Now, a couple of things:

this woman is against abortion even in case of rape and incest. how can she not consider having a child in those instances a punishment?

And I do not give a damn what anyone says: if you have a kid when you don't want a kid, it feels like punishment.

Will she shut the fuck up if abortion is made an issue of the states and most states votes to legalize abortion?

No, but if you give it to the states then the Republicans can no longer use it as a national campaign issue. Also they want the hypocrisy of not having abortion in their state but being able to send their daughters to California or New York to have one over a "vacation."

Palin put her pipeline in Alaska over abortion because she didn't want to spend political capital on conservative social issues and attempt to convene a special session of the legislature to ban partial birth abortion.

I guess she feels she has no political capital left after spending six weeks personally attacking Obama as only an Alaskan Christian hockey mom could.

Forget the ethics people. Remember why I am on the ticket? She's going to clean up ethics violations in Washington? Might want to start closer to home.

Meanwhile, civic knowledge is enhanced by discussing public affairs, taking part in civic activities and reading about current events and history, the group said.

aside from the nuttiness of the argument, the strategy behind this is just self-defeating. the serious anti-choice folks are already voting for McCain/Palin. what the ticket needs are undecided voters, and they seem to worry a lot more about the economy right now. with the current crisis, abortion is not the issue it once was. but i guess that's all they've got left after the Ayers attacks didn't stick.

Well, animals and insects are concious beings with the ability to feel pain whereas a human foetus is unconcious and without a central nervous system with which to feel pain until many weeks into the pregnancy so... no, not equal at all, in fact.

Nice try, tho'.

Oh stop it. Life is life is the point. Let's not put fetus' on a pedestal, or we can but we just have to abort it first. Oops. lol

Though the central nervous system develops about six weeks into the pregnancy, it's roughly 15 weeks, during the second trimester, at which a human can feel pain.

The majority of abortions are in the first trimester. But hey, who even needs abortion when you have the morning after pill! biggrin

so it all comes down to pain. If the person/animal/or being feels pain it is not okay to kill, if they dont feel pain, have at it!

Let me ask this. If one believes in evolution, then also they surely must believe in the survival of the fittest? And if so, wouldnt the survivial of the fittest involve those evolving kill others to survive and evolve?
If so, killing a moose or other animal is not so bad as long as it is due to our survival and constant evolution.

Is that your argument for abortion? Whether or not I have a child? So since every pro-lifer may not have a child then the taking of innocent lives should not only be taken advantage of in extreme situations but should be allowed on demand for the sake of convenience. Yikes! By that argument abortion will always be legal. Congratulations! You win. 1.3 million every year just here in the states and counting.

Way to speak out for the least of these Supa!

And isn't it interesting that the majority of abortions in the US are terminating black babies. How can you be against racism and for abortion at the same time?

I'm for black women having the support and help they need but you are against that so just quit with the bullshit. Your argument that people should give charitably and not be forced is proven to be a failure as believers and the church have done nothing to impact that 1 million figure. You fail.
