I can't believe John McCain winning now

I can't believe this!! This country is backwards!! How can you vote an old senile man who reads off cards everytime he opens his wrinkly mouth up caue of memory lapses and don't know geography of the world! Unbelieveable,

WASHINGTON - In a sharp turnaround, Republican John McCain has opened a 5-point lead on Democrat Barack Obama in the U.S. presidential race and is seen as a stronger manager of the economy, according to a Reuters/Zogby poll released on Wednesday.

McCain leads Obama among likely U.S. voters by 46 percent to 41 percent, wiping out Obama's solid 7-point advantage in July and taking his first lead in the monthly Reuters/Zogby poll.

I can. I have been saying all along that they will pull something out of their sleeves the last minute, like they always do.

I will still be disappointed if I am right.

ALAN FRAM, Associated Press Writer
Tue Aug 5, 7:31 PM ET

WASHINGTON - Solid margins among women, minorities and young voters have powered Barack Obama to a 6 percentage point lead over John McCain in the presidential race, according to a poll released Tuesday.

Obama is ahead of his Republican rival 47 percent to 41 percent, The Associated Press-Ipsos poll showed. The survey was taken after the Democratic senator from Illinois had returned from a trip to Middle Eastern and European capitals, and during a week that saw the two camps clash over which had brought race into a campaign in which Obama is striving to become the first African-American president.

McCain, the senator from Arizona, is leading by 10 points among whites and is even with Obama among men, groups with whom Republicans traditionally do well in national elections.

Obama leads by 13 points among women, by 30 points among voters up to age 34, and by 55 points among blacks, Hispanics and other minorities, the poll shows.

Independent Ralph Nader and Libertarian Bob Barr both won support from less than 5 percent of the registered voters surveyed. When people were asked who they would support if Nader and Barr were not on the ballot, Obama's lead over McCain was virtually unchanged.

The poll showed a huge Democratic advantage when voters ponder which party they would like to see control Congress next year. Democrats were favored over Republicans 53 percent to 35 percent, underscoring the mountainous disadvantage McCain and other GOP candidates are facing in the Nov. 4 voting.

The poll illustrated other ways damage has been inflicted on the Republican brand name as well.

Just 18 percent think the country is moving in the right direction, and only 31 percent approve of the job President Bush is doing. Both readings are a bit better than the record lows in the AP-Ipsos poll that both measures scored in mid-July.

Congressional approval was at 19 percent, just above last month's all-time AP-Ipsos low. Because Congress is almost always widely disliked as an institution and its members come from both parties, that reading is usually a murky measure of whether the majority party — Democrats this year — is in trouble.

The poll was conducted from July 31-Aug. 4 and involved telephone interviews with 1,002 adults, for whom the margin of sampling error was plus or minus 3.1 percentage points. Included were interviews with 833 registered voters, for whom the error margin was plus or minus 3.4 points.

Yeah, it depends on the polling.
And the Obama camp has all but admitted it's pulling a rope-a-dope.
They're letting McCain blow through his money. It's a bit risky, because the McCain ads have been almost 3-1 to Obama ads lately.

But right after the convention is when the Obama campaign is going to open the flood gates. They know that the memory of the average voter is fickle. They're going to remember what they heard LAST.

So where McCain might be doing slightly better NOW, wait and see what the numbers say in October. I have a feeling it'll be somewhat different.

Me too. I guess for some of us it is hard to forget. We had hope after the first election that the same crap would not happen twice, and it did.

All we can do is beg and vote and hope for the best.

I hope I am wrong. I hope Obama wins.

But what is being pulled out? Further evidence that Obama is not who he claims to be?

Liberals are a forgiving bunch, but there is a tipping point. Obama will be lucky if the worst of his decpetions is revealed this week before he gets a boost from the convention.

As Stymie poinrs out, the race is still basically a dead heat and Obama's convention will be huge.

I think McCain might beat him. But I also think that Obama has underestimated him. If he doesn't change strategy, it'll be over.

Whoa. Whoa. Slow down now. It is all good. Polls change everyday. One day Obama is leading by 7 and the next day he is behind by 7. So, I don't pay any attention to polls. Things will be ok.

Say what you want about the right, but they're better organized than the left, they stick to their agenda, and they're not afraid to get down and dirty. Politics is a dirty business, and playing nice will get you second place(as Kerry found out).

You mean, if you can't beat them, join them?????

I see the left as very organised and they stick to their agenda, it was the rights lying and propaganda that made it appear that Kerry was flip flopping, not actual fact...there is where the dirty play came in and it worked.

He's not winning. All the other major pollsters have Obama in the lead. Although, there is no dispute that Obama's lead has shrunk over the last month.

What concerns me is that polls show McCain leading in Ohio.

The same state that gave us George W. Bush in 2004.

The same state that has been ravaged by Bush's economic policies.

How in the name of reason can ANYONE in Ohio support John McCain - much less a majority?

Well, the reason is obviously the hate and lies spread by the right.

That sickens me.

Think this bump in the polls for McCain makes it more likely she'll be asked to be VP?

How could we not be surprised that a son of a Kenyan named Barack Hussein Obama is an underdog? He has been the underdog from day one. Regardless of poll positions, he will be the underdog until the last vote is cast.

History doesn't lie. The American people presume that the GOP will provide a more competent and effective administration, despite substantial evidence to the contrary. One region of the country has voted with the GOP 90% of the time for at least the last 40 years. These are built-in disadvantages for ANY Democratic nominee.

When the Democratic nominee is a black man, the disadvantage becomes greater, and murkier. Americans who will not vote for a black man but would not admit it publicly will latch on to any "strawman" to justify their opposition.

Obama the Muslim (despite the fact that white candidates who state their religious preference are always given the benefit of the doubt).

Obama the Elitist (despite the fact that his major opponents are wealthier than he).

Obama the Inexperienced (despite the fact that he accurately predicted the Iraq outcome, his "experienced" opponent sounds confused at times on foreign policy and supports failed positions, and the current occupant had zero experience).

Obama the Ambitious (despite the fact that his opponent has sold out many of his own major positions in his chase of the Oval Office).

There are those who criticize Obama for non-discriminatory reasons, but anyone who doesn't believe race is a huge obstacle for many voters is fooling themselves.

The margin of error for him will ALWAYS be razor-thin.

McCain's lead should come as no surprise.

We'll see if it sticks.

Props will be withheld until the showing and proving has commenced. -- Aaron McGruder

Please, this was always the plan. Hilliary was the only person who could beat the Republican candidate. The media and the powers that be knew this, that is why they pushed Obama. A setup for failure they presumed. I said it a long time back when this first jumped off. America has a black man for president? Please. rolleyes

Come on folks...wake the fuck up and smell the coffee...America ain't ready for a black man as president. First we as a country are going to have to hit rock bottom...when salvation comes from any source. It's like the racist who doesn't complain about where his new heart comes from, just fix him/her. Same now. Shit ain't bad enough for a black man as president of the U.S. We're not that progressive. razz

Hell look at the bush administration. Some Americans still don't believe fat meat is greasy. lol

They're just going to keep falling for the same b.s. election after election. Sometimes the games and tricks get complex and creative, but still the purpose remains the same...fuck with the people's minds and get them to believe the government has their best interest at heart...check the history, the truth is there.
