McCain whines about media bias towards him

Senator John McCain is upset at the American media for their "bias" against him and their support for Barack Obama. Really?

Where was McCain crying about the media bias when Obama opted out of the public-financing system, and the media went ballistic? When McCain violated campaign-finance law, the media took a pass. I am sure that McCain was outraged then.

Or When Obama said he would continue to "refine" his policy on Iraq, the media spent nearly three weeks screaming, "Flip-flopper!" When McCain completely reinvented himself, and flip-flopped on everything under the sun, the media praised McCain as a "maverick."

Or when videos surfaced of Jeremiah Wright’s sermons, every network put them into constant rotation, practically every day, for months. When videos surfaced of radical televangelists associated with McCain, the media took a pass.

Sure, Jukebox John. There is a media bias towards you. rolleyes

What's strange is that in a weird way McCain actually is the media for Obama.

He can't stop mentioning him, commenting on him, following his every move.

I think the actual media coverage is pretty balanced (though Obama tends to get a bit more negative coverage overall). It just seems like Obama gets a lot more because McCain is acting like a right wing pundit and not like a presidential candidate.

Whereas Obama barely mentions McCain at all.

might be a case on ongoing senior moments. like, when your forgetful auntie mentions (for the 100th time) about how much she likes your green socks nod

Which reminds me, for a while there McCain was on the campaign trail with his mother, and I know why he did it, to make himself seem like he's in not such bad shape, "Look! my mother's still alive and she's active!" I mean it makes sense. There are some despicable people out there who continue to refer to McCain's age, making it an issue on everything from foreign policy to domestic out-of-touchness (plus his wife takes pills).

But does anyone really think that's a good idea to drag an old lady around as some kind of campaign prop? That really seems outrageous to me. A kind of reverse age-discrimmination.

It's one thing to throw people under the bus, but to force them to ride buses and planes and maintain a vigorous campaign schedule, that seems highly questionable to me and raises questions that need to be answered.

So you're saying that McCain feels the same infatuation for Obama but is too embarrassed to say it? Plus he's not really in a place to say it. After all, they are competitors. It's like Romeo and Juliet! McCain is like Juliet pining out her window for Barack!

But it's a forbidden love -- not only because of their race but because of the massive age gap -- and McCain knows it, so he sublimates it as anger and a feeling that the world hates him etc.

Good psychologizing there, ib! thumbs up!

I see a lot more comments about Obama in the media in general, Good AND Bad.

I think he's just a more interesting candidate, and draws better ratings, so they talk about him more. Good or bad. McCain is just boring. Nobody cares.

Furthermore, I saw this montage on McCain/Obama on CNN the other day. Obama's meeting the President of Israel and other middle east dignitaries, McCain's going to a shopping mall, and then a stock boy drops some pickles. Which one is the news story?

I'm only in it for the music.

I just find it funny that McCain wants to whine about the lack of media coverage towards him. McCain, has, on more than one occasion, refered to the national press corps as his "base." And wasn't there a detailed book written recently chronicling the astoundingly biased coverage McCain has enjoyed for years? And he wants to cry about the lack of media coverage?

Stop crying, McCain.

Exactly. Here we have an African American running for president. The whole world is excited to hear and see him. He is overseas, where people wanted him to go because he lacked "experience".

And McCain is off touring malls, outdoor cook outs, and swimming parties. Where do you think the media is going to go after a story? They should go after the man who is drawing bigger and better crowds. The man who is not handpicking his audience.

Obama is way more news worthy than McCain.

That video, from a marketing standpoint, is terrible incidentally...

A presidential hopeful compiled together a clip of media personalities excited about his rival?

Sure, those voting for McCain will chuckle and say "yeah, it's silly, isn't it?"
But they don't matter anyway.

Those undecided will say "Wow, this guy sure is beloved. Wait, where's McCain?"

I don't think this was a smart move on McCain's behalf.

there haven't been a lot of smart moves from the McCain camp lately. it all smacks of desperation, and he seems completely out of touch.
