77 Year Old Robert Novak Hits pedestrian With a Car and Doesn't Know It!

http://politicalticker.bl...-with-car/

Fortunately the pedestrian was okay.

This is exactly why a lot of states have special restrictions on people over a certain age when it comes to driver's licenses and such.

I think in Arizona, for example, after 65 you need to take a test again or something.

To be fair to Novak, I bet that DC traffic is crazy! That's a pressure cooker of a city!

About a year ago, about two blocks from me, an older lady jumped the curb and crashed into a bus stop killing a young man that had 3 kids.... sad

They really need to make people take the test again.

Hell, even if they made EVERYONE take the test every 10 years, I'd be happy.

According to the witness that stopped Novak, "the pedestrian was sprawled over Novak's windshield and there's no way he could not know that he hit someone."

disbelief He's not going to do a day! disbelief

DC traffic is hard to manage for twentysomethings, much less seventysomethings. In some ways, with all of the roundabouts, it is tougher than even NYC traffic.

I kind of like Will Ferrell. I would never hit a woman. The others you added aren't yet in face-punching danger.

In 2001, he cursed at a pedestrian on the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue and 13th streets Northwest for allegedly jaywalking.

“’Learn to read the signs, [bodily orifice]!’ Novak snapped before speeding away,” according to an item in The Washington Post’s Reliable Source column.

Novak explained to the paper: "He was crossing on the red light. I really hate jaywalkers. I despise them. Since I don't run the country, all I can do is yell at 'em. The other option is to run 'em over, but as a compassionate conservative, I would never do that."

http://www.politico.com/n...11985.html

there should have been a warning to the general public that Novak changed his position on this.

okay, a bit of devil's advocate there;

almost every day during my commute i am forced to deal with moron pedestrians who refuse to yield the right of way.

i'm talking about businessmen who saunter right out into traffic, against the light with no right of way who refuse to back up or stop when a car comes along.

what's up with that?

are we entering a new age of "so what are you gonna do about it" bad behavior??

I would think and hope not but let's be honest here, that has been working for the Bush Administration for years now, so I just don't know. shrug

really though, i've seen some of the worst behavior by pedestrians downtown here in minneapolis.

the problem is so bad they have even begun using live traffic cops at the busiest intersections. i witnessed an incident where the traffic cop blew her whistle the second the green walk light turned into a flashing 'don't walk' red hand, and a moron pedestrian just kept on walking.

she waved at him, addressed him directly, pointed to the flashing 'don't walk' sign and shouted 'what does that say?" he ignored her and kept walking.

it likely seems not a big deal but when pedestrians just keeping flooding the intersections, gridlock results, which causes bad tempered drivers in a big way.

WHY can't people just FOLLOW THE RULES*????

sorry for shouting. tough morning commute involving idiot, asshole pedestrians. redface

no sigh nor do i beleive in running people down when they jaywalk.

BUT it is quite frustrating when someone breaks the rules, seizes the right of way and arrogantly strides out into traffic, causing problems for rush-hour drivers at risk to their own, stupid life.

it's like driving through an entire crowd of george w. bush giggle

lol@pinky swear lol

i'm not talking about crossing when there is no oncoming traffic, or conflict of interest, i'm referring to the blatant disregard for the law some jaywalkers show when venturing out in front of oncoming traffic, on a red light.

i would be willing to bet you aren't the latter.

AND I like to set up my workstation, computer and all, right smack dab in the middle of a busy street, during morning rush hour. The flow of traffic helps me concentrate on my work. I really recommend this approach.
