What makes you search for your God - or not? What made you look for your God? Did you have this inner voice seeking him, did you feel as though something was missing in your life.

If you don't have this longing to search for God what makes you satisfied with this life and do you believe that there is another existence after death, the hope of a resurrection or this is it, one chance make the most of it. Are you happy in your belief system, do you think that there is something more but haven't found it yet? Give us your views... Fear of my own mortality led me to search for god... Subsequently, not finding a reason to believe in god other than fear led me to stop my search. I'm unhappy I'm mortal, but I am... confident in my beliefs. I can't knowingly lie to myself about them. Note: Whatever one's reasons are for believing in God, I am saying that since I can't find them, I'd be lying to myself if I believed in God just because. This is not a flame, it's a personal reflection. I'm only in it for the music.

Being brought up in a faith school probably made me search for a God as I thought 'It must be true as everyone else believes in it'

I had things backwards. I always thought that my music or sports came first, then family, and then friends. And somewhere in that mix I had God. Well, as I got older I realized that it does not work that way. It is more like; God, family, friends, and then everything else. I am happy with my belief system. I forgot the passage, but it goes something like this; "Man judges the outside of the person, God will judge the heart of the person." Even though people may attack my political views (I am a liberal) and I support groups that are not popular (Cuba, Palestinians, and anyone that is oppressed), I know that God will look at my heart and judge me accordingly. “Although it is not true that all conservatives are stupid people, it is true that most stupid people are conservative.” John Stuart Mill

I don't own God, and do not consider God to be "my God". However, I've always had a deep faith in God, even as a very young child. My parents didn't attend church, though they claimed Christianity as their faith. When I moved in with my aunt and uncle, it was the same situation. I always found ways to attend church. In my teen years I stopped attending church because I had too many questions about what the churches I was attending were teaching. What they taught never sat well with me. There was something so off in their message, and so unloving to me. About 10 years ago, God found me and basically said, "If you want to know what Truth is, here it is." And what a wonderful and frustrating and loving experience it's been since then. blueblossom said: Did you have this inner voice seeking him, did you feel as though something was missing in your life.
We're human. From infancy we are raised to believe that something is missing in our life. Advertisements on TV, in magazines and newspapers, and on radio all tell us how miserable we are and how imperfect our lives are, and how we are missing out on something, and how happy we could be if we just buy their product. But yes, I felt like this deep connection with God was missing because I knew there was something more that I just wasn't seeing. And I always had this inner voice telling me to get to know God. blueblossom said: Are you happy in your belief system, do you think that there is something more but haven't found it yet?
Give us your views... I don't have a "belief system". And there isn't anything to find, everything is right here, right now. [Edited 7/17/08 5:57am] ing one day about racial prejudice, Paramahansa Yogananda said, "God is not pleased to be insulted when He wears His dark suits."
