God Vs Santa

Last Christmas I was thinking about Santa and how the story can be used to control childrens behaviour.

That lead me to think (as a non-believer of God and Santa) about the comparisons between the two supernatural entities.....

Santa = 'If your not a good boy/girl santa will not bring you any presents'

God = 'If your not good Christians/Mulims etc etc etc you will not enter heaven'

Santa = An entity that can be in multiple locations delivering multiple presents.

God = An entity that can be in all places at all times reading thoughts / answering prayers / forgiving sins / punishing evil'do-ers etc etc

Santa = Generally gives comfort to the children that believe in him.

God = Gives comfort to his followers who believe in all the benefits - eternal life etc etc

I think that when I discovered as a child that the Santa story was a lie I started to question the existence of other fairy tales and stories - this put me on the path to becoming a free-thinker and not accepting these stories or concepts without concrete proof.

When I try and explain this concept to people who believe in God some become a bit upset at the comparison saying the two cannot be compared.

I disagree.

Although one is considered more powerful on the supernatural scale they are essentialy both entities that are amazing yes but are both un-proven by science.

I ask them how can you believe in one and not the other ? If not why not.

Or perhaps they do believe in both ? - That would make more sense to me.

Not a good comparison.
If you study the bible you will see that your general
conception of the GOd christians and others worship/pray to
is nothing like Santa.
In fact, believing in this God brings persecution and ridicule in this world.

I agree I have made generalizations about this - my point is as 2 seperate entities there are certain comparisons which I have given examples of above.

You may not agree with these comparisons which is fair enough.

Difference between Santa and god.

"Be good or you wont get any presents this Christmas"

"Be good or I'll drown every man, woman and child on the face of the earth"

They're both fairy tales, but God (as defined as a Christian God) is far more evil than Santa.

Dance

There's no comparison.

One is some random fat man that brings kids toys and the types of sweaters their grammaws would buy for them.

The other is a being that possibly created this:
