Are you troubled by the fact that Prince is a Jehova's Witness?

If a member of the sect chooses to leave he will be totally ignored by the members, they won't even say hello if they meet him on the street.

i don't care what he does with his personal life. clearly he guards it so fiercely for a reason, because it's none of our business.

Yeah and because it's a private and personal thing and none of our business he sings about them in his songs, he even changes his lyics to older songs as they are nor "acceptable" for him anymore, he preaches when he accepts awards, in interviews, when he talks to his fans and he even hands out the Watchtower at his concerts.

I can only say that I think his music has suffered because of it.
That is his choosing though.

If he enjoys disappointing fans then that is his thing.

yeah, i hear you, but i feel like he's even been phasing that whole level of dogma-spewing from his public persona. over the past couple of years, it's hard to tell if he's even practicing his faith anymore, or if he IS still a JW, if he's found a way to creatively customize the religion to cater to his party lifestyle. ostensibly that should be impossible, but hey - it's prince, mr. have-it-my-way himself. shrug

No more than I am troubled by the fact that some of my most beloved relatives, both living and passed on, were and remain good Witnesses.

well, you can assign value to it and if that waxes your poodle more power to ya. i'm just saying i think prince is all over the place these days, and the only constant is that he seems to be fiercely protecting his privacy. if all he wants us to think of him these days is that he likes to throw house parties for famous people, then hey - great. whoop de freakin doo for that. lol

Nope, it's his life and if it brings him peace and fulfillment then more power to him. It's interesting to see how he's going to balance it all, and how his rebellious stubborn side is going to deal with it.

It doesn't trouble me at all. Prince is interesting to me from an artistic standpoint. Whatever else he's doing with his life isn't worth my attention.

I just wish him well and leave it at that. shrug

I'm not troubled, or upset, or angry that Prince is a Jehovah's Witness.

I'm one of the few people who actually thinks that becoming a JW was actually good for Prince!!!

I'm somewhat dismayed by Prince being a JW, but I think he wanted answers to Bible questions, and found them with the JWs. It has affected his music, especially Planet Earth, which is limp and unlistenable to me. I'm worried that he might become a Scientologist, if he partys with T. Cruise and J. Travolta.

No. The last time I read The Constitution of the United States of America, freedom of religion was in there somewhere. Why should I, or anyone else for that matter, be troubled by the way Prince chooses to worship?
