Who Are You Voting For-Presidential Election 2008

I just want to get a feel for where everybody is in this Presidential race-who are you voting for? Why? Please keep it short (no rants please lol )

I'm voting for Obama(I think he should be the Democratic nominee) quite simply because the world has changed rapidly in the last eight years and we need a President that is able to understand all of our views and one that will stand up for all Americans whether Rich or Poor.

Obama

Of course we don't agree on every issue. How can that even be possible?

But.....

Voted to end $300 million worth of tax breaks (welfare) for businesses (2004)

Successfully sponsored requirement that law enforcement videotape interrogations of suspects in some serious crimes (2003)

Successfully sponsored law enforcement study of the race of people pulled over for traffic tickets (2003)

Successfully sponsored the Health Care Justice Act, a study of ways to implement a universal health care system statewide (2004)

Barack Obama supported gay rights during his Illinois Senate tenure. He sponsored legislation in Illinois that would ban discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.

Successfully co-sponsored major ethics reform called the Guft Ban Act (1998)

Barack Obama believes we need to repeal the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy and allow gays and lesbians to serve openly in the military. His campaign literature says, "The key test for military service should be patriotism, a sense of duty, and a willingness to serve."

Supports a phased withdrawal of troops in Iraq war but supports continued funding of those now there.

If you’re eco-friendly and want to see certain places kept off limits to oil and gas exploration, Obama is one of you. Last March he voted against a bill that would have paved the way to oil and gas exploration in part of Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

I did something today that I have NEVER done in my entire life. eek I almost slapped myself. I actually donated to Obama's campaign. Never have I given any politician a cent of my money. I'm still in shock. I'm not in awe of him, and I don't have Obama fever. I just finally see someone who maybe, just maybe, might do something good.

That all depends!

Should hell happen to freeze over and Satan learns to ski, Hillary will somehow manage to steal the campaign from Barack, in which case I'll vote independent!

Otherwise, Obama all the way!

Obama.

Not because he's a Democrat, because I'm a Social Libertarian in the same area of the political grid as Ghandi. But I am voting for Obama because he's the most fiscally Conservative candidate remaining. He's to the right of Clinton and McCain on international financial matters. And he's the toughest on China of the three candidates. That alone would get my vote. China is the biggest threat to American survival, and they are a threat thanks to American businesses. McCain supports those same businesses that sent our jobs to China. Bad decision. Clinton supports those same businesses. Bad decision. Yes, Obama is to the left of both of the candidates on domestic financial matters when it comes to helping the poorest among us, but I follow Jesus Christ and He would do the same. Anyone who refuses to help the poor because it's not in their overall "business model" is going straight to hell in a handbasket. Bank on it.

And about abortions. Abortions are caused by lack of wealth in the hands of the proletariat. If we were happier, healthier, and thereby having the ability to be more moral and think about other things other than our mere survival, our society wouldn't have abortions. It's a fact. Do your research.

Most of the so-called right wing of domestic social issues is as wrong as wrong can be. I am against abortion, but you hypocrites on the fanatical religious side of the right wing cannot continue to underfund for programs that help to encourage women to keep their children by providing financial assistance for child care for the living children that they decide to keep, funding for the mother to be healthy and have a job, funding for housing and transportation, and funding for families where a parent wants to stay home and raise a child instead of it being raised by strangers in a daycare. It's great to be pro-life, but you can't be a fiscal Conservative on that particular issue and be pro-life at the same time. You must allow funding for the poor so that they will keep their children. If you don't, you are participating in the abortion problem and are by-proxy guilty of it as well.

Open your eyes. Righties, get out of FoxNews land, and lefties, get out of DailyKos world. It's time to put someone in Washington who isn't a part of the decades-old problem like McCain and Clinton. It's time for Obama (too bad it's not Ron Paul).

abortion, nor any other sin is caused by a lack of wealth. that's a leftist canard, contradicted by reality.

lol sigh

it saddens me that you can't step out of your mindset long enough to realize that financial situations play a huge role in whether most women want to have a baby.

my post is specifically abortion, and what causes sin, or crime.
not under what conditions you want to have a baby.

it is a leftist canard that lack of wealth, or poverty, is the cause of such things.

this about abortion, not under what conditions you want to have a baby.

why do you play dumb?
you know what i'm saying- some women have abortions because they cannot afford a child. and yes, i read your previous post (obviously). the fact that you think the situation i'm speaking of is completely unrealistic is very naive.

Sin is caused by the lack of positivity. Period. You can call that positivity God, Spirit, Good Karma, Allah, whatever, but it's caused by lack of being positive in the mind and heart. If people were well taken care of in a good nurturing environment instead of having to stress about things in everyday life, most of which could be solved with a better standard of living (i.e. more money) then there would be less sin and thus less abortions. People would have more respect for themselves if they had the time to actually think about it instead of having to slave at a job most of their waking hours just to barely financially make it in life. If the people had better working hours, better working conditions, and enough money, they would sin less.
