Semi Super Tuesday Election Results Thread

So far Obama & McCain have won Vermont. McCain Ohio.

Predictions? Rants? Hail Marys?

Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

I'm guessing that Clinton will win Ohio by around 5-10%. Texas could go either way. Probably Clinton will win the primary and Obama will win the caucus, which may give Clinton a small win in total.

I was for Kucinich and now I am for Gravel. He won't win but I am still voting for the person I think is best for the job.

Plus that all sap diet! lol

I love Vermont. Been there many times.

Last time we were there we bought this book in one of these small country stores called The Vermont Secessionist Handbook or something like that. It was humorous. They talked about how they need to blow the bridges to New Hampshire etc. lol

Interesting. It appears Obama is getting his ass handed to him in Ohio, but he'll probably win in Vermont. Texas is still anyone's game if you ask me.

I still have a strange feeling Hillary will pull it off in the end, and that's too bad.

I'm rooting for several local Republicans. Shelly Sekula-Gibbs for Congress; Charles Bacarisse for County Judge, and John Davis for state representative.

I had to vote in the Republican primary. I'm saving my voting receipt, which says "REP" on it, so I can freak out people.

Ouch! Ohio hates Obama!

At least that's how it looks right now.

Guess that just reinforces my ideas about Ohio. confused

I am tryingto stay awake until the results come in and since it is so early and only 1% or so in, I'm gonna stop calling it. lol

It's very interesting seeing what happens though. biggrin

Gosh, what a terrible result in Ohio so far! It beats even the very worst expectations. Let's hope that it's only the "given" Clinton precincts that have reported so far, and that the numbers will change as they get to the bigger cities.

If my experience voting absentee in Ohio is any indication, I can say that 80% of the folk who were there when I voted early were staunch Obama supporters. (Based on paraphernalia I saw and conversation I heard... nothing truly scientific.)

But Clinton, in my opinion, did do a better job of campaigning in Ohio in recent days. She did a bus tour of ALL 88 counties, and whereas Obama spoke in a working-class suburb on Cleveland's west side, Hilary spoke on Cleveland's east side, the hub of Ohio Jewish voters, who many speculate have a bone to pick with Obama after this latest Farrakhan debacle.

My parents are in Ohio and this NAFTA blunder of Obama's was everywhere the last 3 days. I think that really hurt his ratings in Ohio. And if you look at the economy of Ohio a speech bout change doesn't answer how its gonna get better.

my guess is a mccain win for the gop, an obama win for the dems, and a ron paul third party bid after he secures his congressional seat tonight. then you'll have nader taking from dems, ron paul taking from the gop, and the first black president in the us.

I follow all of this up to this point. Do you think Ron Paul has a big enough backing to siphon significantly from GOP voters?

Texas is still very close, though Obama still has a lead as of 9:30 pm EST. However, MSNBC was doing some delegate calculations which showed that Hillary Clinton could presumably win the popular vote in Texas, but because of the allocation of delegates by state legislative districts plus the additional caucus, Obama could actually come out ahead in delegates.

As for Ohio, I give Hillary credit for actually campaigning across the entire state, and it looks like it will pay off for her tonight. Had she done some of this in the caucus states prior to Super Tuesday and in Maryland, Virginia and Wisconsin, she would probably be leading right now and would be looking to sew up the Democratic nomination tonight. As it is, she is fighting for her political life and trying to derail Obama's nomination.

he'll get the votes of those who stand for the constitution and against the war, as well as from those who pay attention to property and tax law. with that, he'll manage to aid the democrats to a victory. besides, he's still polling at 9% nationally so those votes must be coming from someone.
