If someone ask you why Obama? Tell them this...

If someone ask you why Obama? Tell them this...

I'll answer this in two parts:

1) Why I'm not voting for Hillary:

She is now running on the claim that she has 35 years of experience, however that's obviously a bogus claim. She's 60. So basically, she's saying that everything she's done since she graduated from college gives her the experience to be president. If that's so, then how is that different from any other candidate. If we're to elect someone on years since college then we should all vote McCain. She claims that being First Lady gave her the experience to be President, yet last I checked First Lady wasn't a cabinet position. She claims that she was a trusted advisor to Bill, but when the press went after communications that would demonstrate her roll in his presidency, Bill made sure that they couldn't get to them until after the primary season. Also, she brings up the battles she's fought agaisnt the Republicans throughout the years, but how many has she won? She says she has a proven track record of winning, but she was first put in charge of bringing about universal healthcare back in '93. Do we have universal healthcare. No, because she failed, and the enemies who defeated her then are still around today and hate her even more because she's been fighting them and losing in the Senate since then.

Furthermore, she was the last of the major candidates to give a detailed platform. She was the last with a healthcare plan. For most of 2007, she was basically simply saying "elect me, my name is Clinton." Then when that started to fail because Barack's groundwork started to kick in and he became a contender, she turned to tears (and again yesterday).

What's even more disgusting is that when her back was against the wall, she turned dirty. She's run a horribly nasty campaign, launching personal attacks at Obama through surrogates so that she can use plausible deniability when anyone tried to hold her to account. In SC, she and Bill, sensing that black voters had finally embraced Barack, used race baiting to try and make his race the issue that it hadn't been prior to then so that they could paint him as the "Black candidate" to the rest of the country and abate his legitimacy.

This has said to me that she will do anything to be President. She is after power, which is probably why she stayed with Bill through his BS. If anyone remembers Bill Clintons second term, he was very popular, but the federal government was at a complete stand still as the Republican Congress refused to compromise and all we had was bitter partisan bickering. Clinton brings that with her. Just her name alone is a divisive factor.

2) Why Obama?

Before I knew anything about Obama, I thought Hillary would be a better candidate, but I pledged to do the research on both of them and I've paid close attention throughout the entire campaign season. The more I researched Obama's platform, the more I started to feel that he had a good plan. Meanwhile, back when I was doing this, Hillary didn't have a platform. Then, in the middle of 2007, she announced her platform and made universal healthcare its central focal point. However, this isn't the universal healthcare that Canada, Great Brittain, France, etc. have. The isurance companies are still involved. It is still a for-profit system. It may lower costs quite a bit, but including a mandate just punishes people for no reason. A mandate must be enforced. How will it be enforced? Those are details she leaves out. How are they enforced in the one state, Massachussetts, that has them? People get fined. If someone can't afford healthcare even after the costs are lowered, how would fining them help? And if you don't fine them what, send them to jail? The TRUTH about healthcare is even a mandate doesn't guarantee universal coverage. And even universal coverage doesn't guarantee adequate coverage, as the movie Sicko illustrated. It's still a for-profit system. Obama's plan is at least cheaper and more honest.

Also, the way Obama has run his campaign has been remarkable and is really unprecedented in modern politics. He has stayed relatively positive. He hasn't taken PAC money. Hillary hasn't even promised to keep the lobbyist influence out of the White House. Whenever she is pressed on that issue, she refuses to commit to doing anything about it because she is already bought and paid for by them. Obama's campaign money comes more from a groundswell movement for change in the country and a person of integrity in the White House.

Obama represents the death of the cynicism that causes people to believe that politics has to be as disgusting as it is. In most of our elections, we are forced to choose between two people we don't like. But Obama is someone who motivates people to get involved in the process like no candidate has done before. He's such an agent of change that he's already completely changed the way every candidate, even Republicans, has run their campaign. Hillary wasn't talking about change before Obama kicked her but in Iowa. The effect of Obama's experience as a community organizer has even shown in his campaign. Read up about how it is structured like a grassroots movement.

In short, Obama is about empowering people to improve the way things are. His words inspire people. His policies make sense. His life is a reflection of his rhetoric, not a contradiction. Clinton is about telling everyone how she's the only one smart enough to do what she thinks they want. Obama will bring respectability back to America on the worldwide stage. He is someone who I would be proud to have as the leader of my nation, not just someone I could stomach.

Wouldn't it be better to give them an opinion formed on your own rather than one you knicked from a Prince website?

It's great that you have fleshed out your thoughts so well, but as a criticism is that people blindly follow him, simply parroting someone else's opinion does little to counter that claim.

There were two side effects:

1. He can mess up a guy, just by touching him.

2. He became a humorless dick.

clapping Very well said. Very awesome you took the time to reseach the choices. I wish every American would take a little time to find out about each canidate. Paying attention to CNN every now and then while on the Treadmill, and just being aware of what is going on is a good investment in your future.

I like Obama mainly because he seems like a level headed person and I agree with many of his stances on things, particularly education and a dislike for what he called "an anti-intellecutalism" in our current culture.

Hillary is the one who says one thing and does another, and the she always has some excuse or reason why it didn't work out. I doubt very seriously that she would get too much done and you can't underestimate her polarizing peronaltiy and how she would interact with those who impliment plans that affect us.

I am fully aware of the gender inequalities in our culture and how I think people react negatively to her strong personality which would not even be problem if she was a man, sexism really does anger me, but being a woman I can never vote for a woman just based on that alone. I just like Obama because he seems way more trustworthy than she does.

Good points.
However,
if they're anti-Obama (or anti-anything), they're not gonna listen.

When it comes to politics & religion,
most people are pretty much set in their opinions, no matter how well or logistical your arguments.

Ignore this post.
I don't need the encouragement.

I wonder how much presidential experience young JFK had when he took office? Sometimes Hillary's remarks are just plain s-t-u-p-i-d.

I like Obama for one reason alone... and there are many others...

Obama did not think we could afford the Iraq war.
How about spending that money in education instead of lining the pockets of some well to do Americans.

Our national debt is at 10 trillion now it was barely 5.75 trillion when Bush took office. Can you imagine the interest alone on that figure... we will never be able to pay it off. mad
