If Obama was elected, would he be assasinated?

I hope not. But anything's possible, though they have tightened security, which gives me some peace of mind.

I could easily see an attempt - at least 1 attempt.

To be honest,I really worry about this Colin Powell says he and his family received alot of death threats when he was considering running for president in 2000.There are alot of bitter,angry,racist idiots in this country who will never,never,never accept a black man being our president.I'd like to think that we have moved beyond this,but unfortunately that's not the case.

The thought has crossed my mind. Thus far, things have gone more smoothly for him than I would have expected, which leaves me waiting for the other shoe to drop. Pehaps I'm cynical but I'm expecting significant skullduggery to come his way.

Maybe not something so drastic as a bullet, but I am concerned that there will be some type of incident and unforseen consequences, At the very least we could see an increase in hate crimes, at least initially.

One thing for sure, he'd better be prepared to dot every i and cross every t because he'll have a lot less wiggle room than Bill did if he puts his foot in it. .

Not if he makes my political wet dream come true and has Dr. Cornell West as his VP because there's no way in hell those that would attempt to assassinate Obama would dream of doing so, knowing that would leave Dr. West as President!

the chance that he might be is no reason to not support him.

As of right now he has more Secret Service then President Bush. So, I think he's pretty protected, but you always have some psycho out there that wants to "buck" the system. I would hope not, but all he can do is beef up the security and just have prayers going his way. I think there would be a major riot if anything like that went down. There might be an attempt but I do not think it would follow through. I'll keep him in my prayers.

i was discussing this with a friend the other day. we were talking about ppl saying Obama is the new jfk and the fact a part of us hopes he isn't for we all know how jfk's life ended prematurely.

I hope not. At least, in this day and age, there is a lot more security around the president and I'm sure Obama would have even more than usual because of the racist nit wits out there. However, if someone wants to get to someone bad enough, they will find a way.

That's a thought that crossed many minds I'm sure, especially like what someone else said, that Colin Powell received death threats when he was being urged to run for President. I do think we will see more hate crimes though, given recent situations, more nooses, racist remarks. If that does happen, and Obama wins the Presidency, then it would be Obama's chance to really enforce the hate crime laws in this country as a stepping stone in dealing with these racial situations. But other than that, then again the way things are going with this election, it seems a large part of America does want change.

On another note, I've also heard someone on a cable station suggest that McCain should put Condoleeza Rice on the VP ticket..go figure.
