Jehovah Witness Rules I'm sure this has all been discussed on here before, but I was just looking at the rules JW's apparently need to follow (listed by some former JW's) and I was quite shocked, there's loads of them

No sex outside of marriage, no em... 'pleasuring oneself'?!!! Crikey 'some people' haven't been married for a year and a half? Other things were; no tattoos, symbols, images of idols, that sort of thing. Is that what all this is really about? When I'd finished reading down the list I felt really quite depressed!! No disrespect to anyone who is a JW but... it must be the biggest turnaround in human history! From totally sexually upfront, to not even being able to pleasure oneself in the privacy of one's own suite at the Dorchester Oh, sorry I'm not sure how to do links but the page I was looking at is called '101 Strange Beliefs and Practices of Jehovah Witnesses' interesting reading! [Edited 11/30/07 9:27am] How can anyone know if you're "pleasuring yourself" or not? Do you suppose elders hang out in our houses spying on us? What's "strange" to one person might be reasonable to another... but I'm willing to bet that 99% of that list is a bunch of baloney anyway.

If you think Prince (or any other JW really) obeys all the rules to the letter then you're surely wrong. Its just lip service for extra god points. Glug, glug like a mug

extra god points.. u must be playing a lot of online games... Being JW is mostly about principles anyway, not a bunch of rules to follow... that's not what's in the Bible. People here seem to think that, but I'm willing to guess that most don't know the Bible very well (or are confusing "religion" with it).

right? wrong? Maybe. I know they have belief's about charity, as most faiths do. I can tell you that they believe in taking lower paid jobs, in the hope of giving them more time to focus on thier faith. I like the privacy of my home too much to consider joining the flock.

[Edited 11/30/07 9:27am] i'm thinking that just like some other religions, JW have various "Senates" or divisions of the same religion that are less strict or have more reasonable rules than another Vein of the same religion. The Lutheran Religion is like that.

Not to be contrary here, but the JW's don't use the king james bible. From the JW's that I've known, it's my understanding that they use a bastardized version fo the bible.....

I don't know how they check the women but the men have their balls weighted by the elders just before the weekly service. If a man has shot his 'millions' he is not allowed to attend the service. To let Him know that if He doesn't like it when I pleasure myself, no one is forcing Him to watch.

I'd be very suspicious about this, personally. I'd wager it's only the honest JW that admits he or she is as much of a wanker as me. ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

I just enjoy sinning way too much. Anyway, this looks like similar rules to other religions. I just hear the religion is very, very, very, very strict. Dig my random little art gallery http://dovescryforme.devi...m/gallery/

Being a Christian myself, I do understand some of these rules. There are a lot of things on this planet that give people a fake sense of freedom when in fact they turn weak people into the slaves of a deceitful world. And a lot of people are totally fooled by it.

However, some of the other rules on that webpage sound a bit extreme and I am not sure of the reasons behind them. It would be interesting to verify this with someone who is a Jehovah's Witness. I've just browsed on the Watchtower Society website and what they have there is all very sensible stuff. I wonder if you would be allowed to join in this forum if you were a JW. That's where I saw discussions about how to discourage young men from masterbating, some were almost in despair because they felt they'd failed Jehovah or something. I'm not surprised they were in despair - can you imagine another young man 30 years ago adhering to this!

What they probably mean is that any habit that starts taking over people's life - whether they are a Jehovah's Witness or not - isn't a good one. It would be the same with any other form of addiction: alcohol, food, drugs. etc. When you are controlled by such things (ie. a slave of the habit), then you are not free. God can help you conquer those habits. That's my understanding of it.

I think Prince needs to stay away from Larry Graham and be his own person. I think JW is very strict and not really a religion Prince can follow to the hilt, he will always stray from it. It is always good to try things in moderation rather than extremes to avoid hyprocrisy of such. :2cents:

Here we go again with the 'Larry Graham influence' comments. Utter sillyness. Graham does not dictate anything that Prince does, nor will he ever. It is entirely Prince's decision, and he is entirely resposible for his actions. It's like blaming a liquor store for someone's drinking problem. I'm not sure if Prince is a Witness still or not, but no one is perfect, so no Prince cannot follow God's Word 'to a hit'. I don't know anyone who can, since we're all capable of making mistakes and erring in various aspects of life. One is not a hypocrite if he make a mistake, but only if you consistently practice things that you claim shouldn't be practiced. Sounds like you're judging Prince, which you don't really have the place to do. And since Prince wasn't even mentioned in the thread starters post, why isn't this is P&R? I have some misconceptions to address once it gets there.
