I'm a single low-income mother, so I'm just as depressed by the prospect of four more years of fundamentalist, evangelical, right-wing maniacs ruling the land I live in. Nothing good for me or the people I care about is going to come out of this. But there isn't much that Kerry can do at this point. Even if he won Ohio by some stretch of the imagination, he and Bush would be tied for electoral votes. Then what happens? A Republican majority decides the winner. Speaking as a Kerry supporter, it is simply reality that he has lost. There is no mathematical way that Ohio can turn. Denying reality doesn't do anybody any good. Sometimes the better guy loses. That's life. You'll feel emotionally a lot better once you admit to yourself that a slight majority of Americans simply don't agree with you or me. Be gracious in defeat. It's the right thing to do. I AGREE.... JUST THOUGHT I WOULD THROW THAT IN.... I THINK KERRY LET US DOWN BY NOT SHOWING THE GUTS TO HANG IN TILL THE END, IT WAS A CLOSE RACE... AND HE JUST LAID DOWN AT THE END.  CNN has Kerry at 252 electoral votes, with no calls for Ohio, New Mexico, and Iowa. If Kerry got Ohio's 20 electoral votes, he'd have a victory with 272+ votes. A candidate needs 269 to tie and 270 to win.
I agree that Kerry has probably lost Ohio, but especially after Edwards made that brief speech last night about counting every vote, I think Kerry should not have conceded before Ohio's provisional and absentee votes are counted. Now, if Kerry does wind up as the winner of Ohio, I assume he'll retract his concession. That's a "flip-flop" that I can deal with. (Possibly, but probably not) Sent from my iPhone 3G |

I'm looking at the upsides here:
One thing that disappoints me about this election is that facts just don't matter to people. Polling showed that barely half of the electorate was happy with the job that Bush was doing. Most people thought the country was on the wrong track. If someone believes in the same God as you, then I suppose it's OK to support them even when they clearly lie about the reasons for war. Amazing that the religious right has no problem with this policy. The morality card is a bunch of BS. This is the most immoral administration, but then again believe in the same God, actions don't matter  It's amazing that people stand behind the candidate over issues like Gay marriage, when the economy is in the dumps and terrorism is a huge concern. I guess it's more important to keep us faggots from having equal rights than to make the nation successful and make the US and the world a safer place. Didn't know we had so much power
