Computer question

Does anyone know of a way to turn off the emoticons?
My cranky old computer can't handle the little bastards
sometimes it takes as long as half an hour to scroll thru a thread

It burns when I obtain
て desired something has awakened the actuality of NoiseNaive

The only thing you can really do is turn off all graphics in Internet Explorer by going to TOOLS then choosing INTERNET OPTIONS. Click on the ADVANCED tab and scroll down to MULTIMEDIA. Remove a check in the box that says "Show Pictures".
