hey y'all
i am blessed to make my 1st trip ever to minneapolis next week. i'm wondering what there is to see and do. the FAQ on this site was pretty helpful. does anybody know of specific shows on the nights that i'll be there? (28-31 Aug)? thanks

hey Endorphin! thanks for asking ... i didnt realize my post was moved until just now.
i will be staying downtown, near the Target Center and Metrodome. i heard there's a skyway connected to the hotel. i'd love to hear some live music, esp. r&b, funk, jazz (no DJs, thanks, i dont think of them too highly despite the fact that I am one myself). my girl is from wisconsin so i think she knows some stuff in the area. unfortunately she is not such a prince fan (i know, i know, but i really like her!) so i think that i will have to save the pilgrimmage to chanhassen for another time. i'm not sure what else minneapolis is known for, but if there is anything you think i should check out, pls let me know!

Anyway, Ruse, if you're staying downtown you must visit Let It Be on 10th St and Nicollet Mall. It's a great locally owned music store that's become a little over-priced the last few years, but has lots of neat stuff, including an all vinyl dance shop in the basement (you did say you're a DJ, right?). Nicollet Mall is also a cute place to stroll down, have some coffee, a drink or even a meal at one of the many restaurants along there with outdoor seating and end at Peavy Plaza which has this huge lake/fountain-y thing that sits outside of Orchestra Hall so there's often some sort of live music going on outside there in the summer.

Also, while I avoid the Hard Rock like the plague, there's a cute Prince exhibit upstairs, so you should check that out at least.

There are a million fabulous restaurants. Tell me what kinda food you're looking for and I'll tell you where to go.

Hey Deja - Cool! I took a whole heap of photos of it when I was there but *ahem* I had that particualr film taken away from me at one point... lol so when I visit u will have 2 take me there again so I can go peep it again! I do remember it being very cool...

thanks!!! u all are too helpful...and somewhat crazy...in a good way...i hope!!! carrie i will be sure to check out nicollet mall ... maybe my girl can do some shopping while i raid the crates. banana, thanks for the map. it would be nice to do something scenic for a change. i've been in jersey for too long (all of 4 months). peace and all that
