Movies: the biggest plot twist (spoilers possible)

What's in your opinion the movie with what YOU experienced as the biggest plot twist ever?
Let's try to discuss with as little spoilers as possible, and place a warning IN CASE.

For me, I'll always remember THAT moment in the movies when there was that roar, that confusion, that silence, and that disgust when The Crying Game took its famous turn.
Watching it later again at home didn't do much anymore, obviously, but when it was fresh in the theaters, it was something that hit you hard in the face and took you by the balls wink

And what about you?

I don't know if it's my natural cynical nature or what, but it's very rare that a movie's twist actually catches me by surprise. But even if I seen it coming, or knew about it before I seen the movie, it doesn't mean that they are any worse than the ones I was genuinely shocked about. But I will separate them into 3 categories and judge them on an individual basis. And obviously, SPOILERS ahead.

Plot Twists I Didn't See Coming.

Fight Club
Finding out that Edward Norton's Narrator and Brad Pitt's Tyler Durden are one in the same came out of nowhere and yet, makes total sense.

Avengers Infinity War
That ending, where half of Earth's Mightiest Heroes, along with half the population of the universe, die at the snap of Thanos' fingers was devastating and brilliant.

Avengers Endgame
This entire movie was full of massive plot twists. Thanos, made to look so strong in Infinity War, killed in the first 10 minutes. Black Widow dying for the cause. Tony Stark's very own snap. But the one that really got me was Captain America's decision to leave his "reality" in order to spend his life with Peggy Carter. The perfect send-off for Marvel's greatest hero.

The Usual Suspects
Who is Keyser Soze? I don't care what anyone says, Kevin Spacey is a fantastic actor and his performance helped sell one of the greatest plot twists of all time.

Plot Twists I Knew About Prior To Seeing The Movie.

Empire Strikes Back
"I Am Your Father". Nuff said.

Blade Runner
Deckard is a replicant. OK, this is debatable. But I personally believe that he is. Plus, the movie's director says he is so if anyone would know, he would.

Psycho
Probably the greatest twist of all time. The movie's main star brutally killed in the first half of the movie. And if that wasn't enough, they went and added a second twist at the end where we find out that Norman Bates killed her himself in the guise of his dead mother.

Movies Where I Guessed The Twist Before The Reveal.

Shutter Island.
Leonardo DiCaprio is not a real detective. He's actually a mental patient. And despite me guessing this halfway through, it's impact was not lost on me. Criminally underrated movie.

The Sixth Sense.
I seen this movie when I was 10 years old. As soon as that kid said he seen dead people, I turned to my sister and said "I bet John McClane is a ghost". In other words, I didn't even know Bruce Willis' real name and I still knew that he was dead. Good twist though.

I had read the comic books the movie was based on and this was no surprise to me. The main difference is that in the comic Thanos was trying to impress Lady Death, not anything about saving the environment. Lady Death pretty much continued to ignore Thanos. There was also a Thanos clone, so 2 Thanos in the story. It was mainly Adam Warlock who defeats Thanos. There's a lot of things that happens in the comic that's not in the movie and involves way more characters. The part where Hulk/Banner goes through Doctor Strange's roof, it was Silver Surfer in the comic.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Just one of the reasons I don't read comics is because I don't want spoilers when the movie comes out. So it was all new to me.

I gotta go with:

"The Usual Suspects"

"The Sixth Sense"

"Planet of the Apes" (probably my all-time favorite)

"Se7en"

"Now You See Me"

WORST PLOT TWIST OF ALL TIME

"The Village". Who DIDN'T know it was set in present-day times? If you didn't, then great! I spoiled it for you and saved you about 2 hours of your time that you would have never, ever got back. You are WELCOME!

The Killer: What happens to Chow Yun Fat's character at the end since he was supposed to help the female singer who he accidentally blinded earlier. I've heard John Woo (who directed the original) is going to remake this with Lupita Nyong'o playing Chow's assassin character.

It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World: Culpepper keeping the money for himself

Who Framed Roger Rabbit: Judge Doom is really a toon
