Oh, I forgot...I used to try and videotape all the episodes of Star Trek: Next Generation and Star Trek: Voyager back in the '90s--my son was in LUV with Sevenofnine! lol

I just read an article that states this seasons GoT is going to be a serious game changer, $10 million per episode is being spent. Which means other tv shows are going to be pushing that envelope even higher. So I do see services ramping it up because obviously enough people will keep paying for it. I've just hit my ceiling on paying for tv so I'm just going to have to make do. I'll just keep watching old ST shows, there's a lot of them. Orville is still free.

Yeah, but it's one thing paying for one site like Netflix to view stuff you wanna see on...and another to pay many sites to see what may be only one thing that you like on that one site/service... mad razz And I ain't gonna do it. I've never paid for cable TV or any other service besides Netflix to this day (and I quit paying for that a few years ago)...and I never will. I find a way to watch what I want to watch when I want to watch it.

That made me giggle so hard. If there is a will there is a way, still works.

Yeah, the woman I really wanted to hate but ended up really liking in the show. She was cool and played the hell out of that role.

My favorite species are the Klingons and all their stuff. The culture, the looks, technology/ships, the mixed species, religion etc

Would a Star Trek show/movie that focuses on Klingons work?

roduct Description

Star Trek Fans voted online for their favorite Klingon episodes form the Star Trek television series, which resulted in Star Trek: Fan Collective - Klingon. Get ready for brilliant battles, thrilling adventure and pulse-pounding action when the federation encounters its arch nemesis - the Klingon.

Amazon.com

The fourth volume of the Star Trek Fan Collective series tackles the Federation's arch-enemies-turned-sometimes-allies, the Klingons. It begins in chronological order with Enterprise's premiere episode, "Broken Bow." A new starship, Enterprise NX-01, is rushed into service when a Klingon crash-lands on Earth and Starfleet decides to return him to his home world. Then skip to two episodes of the Original Series, "Errand of Mercy" and "The Trouble with Tribbles," which focus on the conflicts between the Federation and the Klingons. But the two factions had begun working together by the time of The Next Generation. In "A Matter of Honor," Riker (Jonathan Frakes) spends some time serving aboard a Klingon ship, and his Enterprise shipmate, Worf (Michael Dorn), delves deep into his Klingon culture along with his brother Kurn (Tony Todd) in "Sins of the Father." Then in the two-part "Redemption," a bridge between the fourth and fifth seasons, the Klingon empire teeters on the brink of civil war. Worf arrived at the space station Deep Space Nine when the Klingons offer to join the Federation in the Dominion war in "The Way of the Warrior." There he remained for "The Sword of Kahless," in which the search for a mythical artifact turns into a very real struggle for power. Last are DS9's humor classic "Trials and Tribble-ations," followed by Voyager's "Barge of the Dead," in which B'Elanna Torres (Roxann Dawson) has visions of the Klingon afterlife.

Of all the fan collectives released so far, Star Trek Fan Collective: Klingon has the largest number of episodes to draw from, so there will inevitably be controversy over which episodes were selected (via fan vote). While the two Tribble episodes are among the franchise's most popular, the Klingons are somewhat tangential characters, and "Trials and Tribble-ations" was previously included on Star Trek Fan Collective: Time Travel. The space might have been better spent on the Original Series' "Day of the Dove" or more TNG and DS9, though that might have turned the set into Star Trek Fan Collective: Worf. --David Horiuchi

Special features

  • 11 episodes on 4 discs: Broken Bow (Enterprise 721), Errand of Mercy (TOS 027), The Trouble With Tribbles (TOS 042), A Matter of Honor (TNG 134), Sins of the Father (TNG 165), Redemption, Part I (TNG 200), Redemption, Part II (TNG 201), The Way of the Warrior (DS9 718), The Sword of the Kahless (DS9 481), Trials and Tribble-ations (DS9 503), Barge of the Dead (Voyager 223)
  • "Star Trek: Enterprise - Broken Bow" episode is 16x9 widescreen
  • Text Commentary by Trek historians Michael and Denise Okuda on select episodes

Are these just a different species of Klingon?

They look reptilian.

How The Klingons Were Reimagined For Star Trek: Discovery
Learn how Alchemy Studios drew inspiration from previous series and ancient empires to create Discovery's iconic warrior race.

As one of Star Trek's most beloved alien races, the warriors known as Klingons have been redesigned a number times since they were first introduced in The Original Series.

The species has been updated yet again for Star Trek: Discovery—the latest chapter in the Star Trekfranchise—by the prominent prosthetics and creature makeup house Alchemy Studios, which helped bring the Klingons to life for modern audiences.

STREAM: Full Episodes Of Star Trek: Discovery On CBS All Access

"With the Klingons, it's got to be something that we've not seen before, yet you know it's a Klingon," Creature and Concept Designer Neville Page says in a new featurette detailing their process.

In order to achieve this massive undertaking, the studio used a combination of sculpting and 3D-printing techniques to hone in on a look that best suited their take on the species.

"They are very inspired by probably one of my favorite creature artists ever, H.R. Giger," Neville notes.

Watch the video above for more on how Alchemy reimagined the Klingons.

When it came to the new Klingon armor and ship designs, Alchemy took a highly detailed approach, drawing from both the old shows and real-life historical empires.

Regarding the intricate craftsmanship, Creature and Makeup Designer Glenn Hetrick explains, "We looked at pieces of costuming in the past, and tried to expand upon that ... It's Byzantine, it's Mongolian—when you're looking at it, it's very much Klingon, but it feels real."

"Anything that we do that is ornate, it has reference and relevance based on Klingon lore," Neville adds.

Hetrick continues, "The first time I saw [our] Klingons—the wardrobe, the makeup, and the ship—that synthesis of ideas, and shapes, and colors, it is absolutely awe-inspiring. I get goosebumps just thinking about it."

Because she was put in as eye candy and was supposedly overshadowing the other female characters for the most part and it was many years after that series aired I actually got to see it, so I went in with some preconceived ideas of what her role was. But as I said, I ended up really liking her despite the fact she was eye candy she also had a lot depth to her storyline.

Their new concept looks fine IF it were another scifi, but it makes it harder explaining her existance.
B-Elanna-Torres

Of course the whole concept of humaniods interbreeding in the ST uni seems really off when you think about too much.

on TNG there was this rather silly epsisode 'Genesis' where everyone turned into some prior evolutionary form/species, already then Worf turned into some reptilian creature

anyway the new design is stupid.
after many yearfs and decades they finally explained the morphing and different appearances of Klingons over various films and series in Enterprise within canon, and now poof!! same problem all over again err

Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

The Klingons only needed to be changed one time, from what they look liked from the original series

To the new look from the motion picture, which was pretty much how they look through out the decades

that's what I said. though until Enterprise, for many many years, I was perfectly happy with the explanation given by Worf in the DS9 tribbles episode:
"We do not discuss it with outsiders."

eek I just loved that biggrin

it was the first time withiin ST the inconsistency was acknowledged and "explained". simple and short. and that was good enough for me thumbs up!

Ok finished Star Trek Voyager (onto season 1 of Discovery). First I'm glad Janeway and Chakotay never hooked up. So sick of fans wanting them to. I also didn't want Scully and Mulder to hook up. Millions of men and women work together and never hook up but on TV it's like 99.99999999999% they do.

Related image

Now since the show was coming to an end some felt that Seven and Chakotay relationship was rushed. Maybe but I was ok with it. It kinda let you know that once they got back to Earth they would start a relationship.

Like all the Fan Collective DVD collections, the Klingons set is fantastic. Even though we have all the individual complete series on DVD, I found the Fan Collective sets real cheap a few years ago and the wife and I love having them if we're in the mood for Q or Time Travel, etc. It's cool having them all together. She was just talking about watching the Borg set again earlier this evening actually

Although I enjoy Discivery very much, I do have some serious issues with it and the changes for the klingons is high on that list. Completely unnecesary, unwanted and unsuccessful. Still a good show though.

Haven't picked up season 1 on bluray yet. Was hoping it would be under the tree Tuesday, but no such luck. Looking forward to season 2 and iirc, The Orville returns this Sunday!!
