When I try to fall asleep, I try to find specific words in my mind. Let's say I want to find two-letter words.

ad, ah, am, as, at, aw, be, by, do, ef, eh, em, en, es, ew, fo, go, ha, he, hi, ho, if, in, is, it, la, me, mo, my, no, of, oh, or, ox, Oz, pi, so, to, uh, up, us, we, ya, Ye, yo

And before I come up with that list, I fall asleep.

Did you list all those words in alphabetical order on purpose? That's impressive.

Well, I actually started with A and then tried to add B to it, then C... I just try to do it in order.

You really are a great bunch of people this is brilliant

Northc - a daydream about prince. Why do I need to wake up?! ❣️

Kitbradley - I’m going to keep a sleep diary as suggested and if none of all the fab advice works here I’m going to the dr and will mention at least. I never thought about it before this thread but I am a little anxious.

Emma - brown sugar album is so great and I haven’t drunk warm milk since I was a kid but I slept well then so maybe this is good!

Kpower/Luv - bats are terrifying I’ll be up all night haha

Genesia - I’m under 35 but never thought to keep a journal. I’m doing this ASAP

onlyforaminute - Down to three cups!

Purplethunder - ebook was a great call. I’m under 35 but at you wrote resonated. Sleep prep is something I never thought of before a big day and you’re right. My husbfkand is one for not turning off his devices and I think it bothers me. This is now to be targeted!

Ladylayla - I’m a big coffee fiend I guess it’s possible it’s too much. Bit young for hrt but that’s good to know for future. I don’t walk as much as I used to and I think hats agood Idea. I have lavender I leave use will try that tomo! Separate beds we are thinking of but you know what we dont chat before sleep

Tump - I don’t really know anything from when he was TTd - any preferred tracks?

Oh how'd I guess?

From what I've read caffeine stays in your body for about 6 hours. I'm caffeine sensitive so I have noted the changes on the days I drink coffee or any other heavily caffeinated beverages vs days I don't. My sleep is highly affected.
Time keeps on slipping into the future...

This moment is all there is...

This thread is screenshotted (all of it) on my phone and I cannot thank everyone enough for replying - every post has been like a little piece of a jigsaw and this kindness is why the org will forever remain a special place and why after more than a decade of not having an account I came back, because Prince fans are the freaking best. Much love. And happy to report MUCH PROGRESS!

About the "bad quality of sleep due to present day distractions and stressful life", I can't help you!

But the following technique to fall asleep quickly, works for most people who ACTUALLY tries it a couple of times:

1. Choose a location with minimal noise, especially no voices.
2. Choose a position where your body, head and limbs are well supported.
3. Close your eyes and make sure that all parts of your body are relaxed.
4. Take a deep breath slowly 3 times.
5. Still keeping your eyes closed, move your eyes slightly upwards, and concentrate your full attention to search for- and study the very faint, meaningless patterns you can "see at the inside of your eyelids". (Yes you can!)
If the patterns are gradually replaced by more meaningful images like whatsapp dp images etc, allow it! -As long as you just "look"- and don't "think" anything about them!
6. If any "verbal thought" comes up, quit it and return to 5. above!

Point 5 is the effective part, concentrating all your mental resources on the almost empty visual channel, and point 6 is the tricky/difficult part, avoiding the verbal thinking!
Practise the technique a couple of times, and you will be able to fall asleep within 1-3 minutes!!
It is also efficient when you have a limited time (<10min) for a "Power nap" during daytime.
(Try it, and leave a comment if it works- or doesn't work for you!)
