Gospel Choir Concert 3rd November 2018

I am leading O Happy Day in a Gospel Choir on 3rd November 2018 for their 10th Anniversary Show. I led it last year and I led it outside John Lewis - where there was a massive Prince Portrait done by presume the Native American visitors. I bumped into one outside Monsoon (or what used to be Monsoon as all the shops change names a lot where I live). He was selling all Native American Music/Dream-catchers that sort of thing (I have bought several dream catchers before and other things). I told him that the Artist Formerly Known as Prince came from this background and he touched my arm as if to say Thank You....then the next week I was singing outside John Lewis....a lot of money was spent on this shopping development and they even gave the Council £50k to pave the High Street as a sweenter.

The development is mainly shops/restaurants/a Cinema Complex and its close to a Sports Complex.

It was a really big picture...and it took centre stage out of all the other things the West Indians were selling on their stall. It was a good picture. I just wonder if anyone bought it?

Also I have lead O Happy Day so many times and I really wanted to make it my own version to rival Mahala Jackson....if that's possible. Everyone at choir gets fed up with me 'thinking big/aiming too high' all the time...but I've heard Mahala Jackson's version on YouTube...and Uretha Franklin's.

Anyway, I'm leading it again on 3rd....after 23 other songs (mixture of other soloists, african spirituals and another one written by one of the Choir Members...which is really nice song actually, I can't believe she wrote it).

But anyway, several rehearsals and a couple more weeks to go and a floor length black dress on order.

I don't know what I'm hoping for exactly...but I'd like to nail it again like I did the first time...as the Choir Master looked really pleased with me....but its hard to keep up the same performance over and over again, especially when everyone's heard it so many times and I want to make it sound better or more my own performance some how.

Anyway, got a baby parakeet making a lot of noise downstairs....no sure if he's trapped somewhere...so going to investigate.

Bye xxx
