Apparently the Rockets are set to release Carmelo Anthony.

Ouch, but at least they are (hopefully) getting rid of the problem without delay.

Butler is a big upgrade from Covington, if he checks his ego at the door and accepts the fact that this is Embiid's team we should be good. Plus we didn't have to give up a future first round pick either, I like this deal biggrin

Good luck with that, Abdul. I don't see it happening. But this was an upgrade for them.

I have to LOL @ all the Carmelo nut-huggers (on social media) who called me a "hater" when I said Houston got worse when they signed him. He's not a winning player. Carmelo has always been more concerned about stats and his "brand/legacy".

Just saw this on usatoday.com - Sixers are close to acquiring Kyle Korver from the Cavs.

Speaking of dysfunction, it's really getting crazy down in D.C. with the Wizards.

Your guys are going to regret letting Ariza walk.

....and Mbah a Moute. Those cats were dogs on defense.

They're back above .500, but they're not beating Golden State in May.

Does anyone think that Markelle Faultz's situation can be solved? Its a pity because he was a great when he was in college and showed alot of promise in last year's Summer League. What is Markelle Fultz's Trade Value? https://www.si.com/nba/20...rade-value

Raptors beat Golden State! What an awesome game last night. Kawhi Leonard was amazing as was the rest of the Raptors team! 19-4!

Now that we're about a quarter of the way through the season, I have to admit I'm a little surprised at who is doing well in the NBA right now. I didn't expect the Clippers to be leading the Western Conference rght now nor did I expect Memphis to be near the top as well.

But what's even more surprising to me are the teams that have been the most disappointing so far. The Washington Wizards have imploded, and they're already contemplating breaking up the team and putting John Wall and Bradley Beal on the trading block. The other huge disappointment has to be the Houston Rockets, but anyone who knows Mike D'Antoni's history knows he can't ultimately win without defense, and trading away two of your best defensive players during the offseason for a washed up superstar in Carmelo Anthony who never played defense in the first place and is about to be traded or released yet again shows what an idiotic move that was. I didn't expect San Antonio to be struggling as much as they are, no offense to DeMar DeRozan, but it goes to show not only how effective Kawhi Leonard was, but also having reliable veterans like Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili, even though they were getting old. The Celtics and Utah Jazz have also been disappointing so far, though the Celtics have played tougher opponents so far this season. There's still time for the Celtics, Jazz, and Rockets to turn things around, but the Rockets need to make a trade for a good defensive player. Jimmy Butler would have worked for them, but Philly got to him first.

When he can focus on coaching, there's few better.

I chalk some of this up to the Jerry West Effect. Even from behind the scenes, he leaves every franchise he's been associated with better than he found it. From the 80's Lakers to the 10's Warriors.

I know I'm a little late, but the Chicago Bulls fired Fred Hoiberg from his head coaching job. While I thought he should have been gone a couple of seasons ago, he's not the only one who should have been shown out the door. They need to get rid of both John Paxson and Gar Forman, because they're the ones who ruined the franchise, especially after getting rid of Thom Thibodeau. Thibs may have been too hard on his players, but they at least had an identity. These days you couldn't pick the current Bulls players out of a lineup.

You mean there's a team more dysfunctional than the Knicks???? lol

@Empress- that's what happens when you add an ELITE player to your team. Like I said before, DeMar is not on Kawhi's level. We've seen Leonard do it at "winnin' time". He met the challenge from LeBron James in 2014.

If I'm being honest, I've never been a fan of the golden boy. I do respect his father who played for the Raptors years ago, but Steph has never been a favourtite of mine. Sounds like he's lots his mind. Maybe that car accident knocked him in the head.

He's an unbelievable player. Maybe the quickest shooter of all time? And deadly. I totally respect the fact that he's a First Ballot, Unanimous Hall of Famer.

But I can't get with this faked moon landing stuff, LOL.

WITHOUT Kawhi Leonard. Raptors are playing serious basketball.

Celtics are starting to get their shit together. Eastern conference playoffs will be fun.
