DeLorean car company goes bust after founder's arrest

The new movie Driven tells the story of the downfall of American automaker John DeLorean, whose eponymous silver sports car is instantly recognizable for its gull-wing door mechanism.

DeLorean's futuristic luxury ride — the model that figures prominently in the Back to the Futuremovies — inspired the British government to invest in a factory in Northern Ireland that employed 2,600 people.

The time travel thing ain't happening. Even if you had a flux capacitor you'd still have trouble getting the car to the requisite 88mph. And in real life those cars couldn't get to 88mph if you pushed one off a cliff.

Patton Oswalt. Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. Nice DMC incident.

Back To The Future movies: long advertisements for Pepsi, Nike, DMC and other crimes against humanity. Nike and Pepsi should be broke in a conscious world.

The real comedy comes out when you see the celebrities that endorsed such garbage. Nothing changes...

Depends on the cliff. It would take the average human about 5 seconds of freefall to reach the requisite speed. I don't know the exact mass of a DeLorean but they weren't exactly the lightest of vehicles and definitely some orders of magnitude more massive than the average human, so it would take considerably less time. So with a high enough cliff it would be doable. You'd want to be damn sure of your flux capacitor though, otherwise you're paste, in a shiny (broken) metal box.

nope. the mass is irrelevant to the speed of falling geek

Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

It's not irrelevant if you factor in wind resistance, which clearly I was (even though I didn't mention it). geek
