NFL Offseason/Training Camp News

NFL diehards won't have to wait long. Training Camp is one week away.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and LeVeon Bell could not come to terms on a new deal

before yesterday's deadline. The Steelers increased the offer from last season

to 70 million over 5 years with a guarantee of 30 million for the first two years.

Did Bell fall and bump his fucking head? I think he's taking a huge risk by not accepting this

offer. I don't know why he feel he needs to be the guy to reset the market for running backs.

Not mad at him but he won't be resetting the market for the position in Pittsburgh.

I like Bell and enjoy watching him play but I'm a Steelers first.

Giants have a chance to be special on offense if the line can get it together. It's the defense that worries me - where is the pass rush coming from?

The offseason has been real quiet here in Philly in regards to the Eagles, I guess finally winning that bowl calmed alot of the fans down, finally! biggrin

Wow never knew of this QB until recently (I'm sure uPtoWnNy has) this guy was at 320 pounds and at one point was 500 pounds. He only saw a few snaps in the NFL playing behind Eli Manning.

Agree, all it takes is one bad hit and your career is over. Plus he's not getting any younger.

Depends on who you ask. I think he should but the better player at his position doesn't always

get the most but it should be comparable. Hell Julio Jones is holding out for more money now and he's a great receiver but I'm taking Antonio Brown over him right now. Gurley got his deal after

Bell's negotiations with the Steelers. Hindsight is 20/20. Nobody is gonna give Bell more than what

the Steelers offered over the course of 5 years. He could possibly hit big for a 2 to 3 year deal but

that's it.

For the past few years I would see sports analyst debate who is the better wide receiver, Brown or Jones? They always tend to say Jones because he's a huge target. If anything (and yes I'm being a little bias here) that makes Brown the better wide receiver because he's not a big as Jones and yet still produces like he does.

Let's not forget Bell has been suspended for marijuana use and has been injured a few times. You do have to factor that in. Don't get me wrong I still think he is one of, if not number one, best RB in the league.

I remember when Franco Harris held out. At the time I was about 10, and a die-hard Steelers fan. I was mad at Harris for hurting the team and himself, since he was so close to breaking Jim Brown's record. Thankfully, my father walked me through why NFL players should hold out, and since then, I've generally sided with players on holdouts.

I don't disagree with Bell in principle. Maybe he could ask for more guaranteed cash. But $14M/season is well above what most RBs will get in today's game. Plus, he can't foresee what his "Cliff" is going to be given the number of touches and his advancing age. After he gets another 300-400 touches this year, which he's basically forced himself into doing to get a big FA contract in '19, what team is going to pay him $70M in free agency with all that mileage?

I'm hoping for the best for him, but it's an awful risk.

He sure is taking an awful risk. What if he signs that Franchise Tag and has a season ending injury one or two weeks into the season? Now not only the Steelers are leery of making you an offer certainly for far less money in 2019 but all those other teams you are banking on to throw money at you are also leery. Bell should have taken that contract get that guaranteed money up front and then if you are putting up the same type of production then renegotiate after that first two years. His agent gave him some bad advice.

He could have easily survived this a few years ago, but not in 2018.

Had he been more open and confessional in his answers, he could have made it through with a suspension.

If in fact he is out, he'll make be the latest in a growing line of OSU coaches, dating back to Woody Hayes, dismissed under a cloud.

I'm not up to date on the off season stuff but how are the Patriots looking for the new season? I'm going to placing quite a large bet this year on who I think will win the Super Bowl. Should I continue my support of The Patriots?

As long as Tom Brady is there they are always consider a contender. Yeah they will make the playoffs. May go to the super bowl. However winning the super bowl is another thing.

Fuck Terrell Owens. Being selected to the HOF is such an honor - a once in a lifetime event, but he's not showing up. Typical TO - always about him.

I'd rescind TO's nomination and give to someone more deserving, like Cliff Branch or Joe Klecko. It's a crime they're not in the HOF.

I thought he got in the HOF way to early. Way more players did more than he did that are not in the HOF.

By sheer numbers, he was a first ballot candidate, but not necessarily a "lock."

I think getting in when he did was about right and he validated his own legacy as "Team Obliterator" by trying to show up (arguably) the most talented class in Canton history. He told us who he was years ago, and not even a gold jacket can change that.

The HOF has never been just. Unless you're an absolute 1st-ballot lock, you could wait a while. Some worthy guys like Klecko (an absolute force) may need vet support to make it.
