I still haven't watched Black Panther. eek I haven't watched any super hero movies since the Batman movie with Michael Keaton, which I believe was in the early 90's?

[Edited 8/24/18 21:09pm]

There were 2 Michael Keaton Batman movies. The one with The Joker was 1989. The one with Catwoman and The Penguin was 1992.

But if you haven't seen any of the previous movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe then you probably wouldn't completely understand Black Panther anyway because it's the 17th or 18th movie in a series. So I'd suggest that you're not missing anything by not watching that particular movie.

I haven't seen these because they've never been released on home video.

Let It Be (it was on video disc in the 1980s though)
Save The Children (1973)
It's Your Thing (1970)
The Harlem Cultural Festival (aka Black Woodstock)
Amazing Grace (This was restored a few years ago and was going to be shown at a film festival, but Aretha Franklin blocked it)

Censored 11 (Not movies, but these are music cartoon shorts that were originally shown in theaters. They were also restored and it was announced that they were going to be released on DVD. The last I heard, it was cancelled because WB said that cartoon short DVDs didn't sell much anymore, but I think they might have been worried about people today complaining about the content. WB could have put a filmed disclaimer like MGM did for Tom & Jerry cartoons on DVD. That's why CBS has never released Amos & Andy although they have the original episodes in good quality. There's only poor quality public domain copies for sale. There's not really anything wrong with the Amos & Andy TV series, the earlier radio show with white actors might be a different story. I have seen one of the 11 called Coal Black which has Dorothy Dandrige's sister Vivian doing the voice & singing for the lead character)

None of the James Bond movies after the ones with Remington Steele in them, haven't seen the Timothy Dalton ones either.

No Hollywood made Godzilla movies, unless you count the Raymond Burr versions of the Japanese movies. I've heard they're mostly about the humans, who I have no interest in, and not much Godzilla. I am curious about the upcoming King Of The Monsters, maybe it will have more monster battles. I have a feeling it's not going to have the Mothra singing fairies though lol

Someone mentioned A Clockwork Orange in another thread. It made me think, there are so many classic movies that I have not watched.

So while I'm not looking for an opinion on a movie, I'm curious as to what classics you have not seen yet. List up to 5, just so we don't have a laundry list of stuff here. I'll list 5 'big ones' to start.

PS why have you never watched them yet? Just not thought about it, forgot, never got around to it, or what?

  1. A Clockwork Orange
  2. Annie Hall
  3. Any Godfather film
  4. Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore (the sit-comAlice, which I loved, is loosely based on this)
  5. Doctor Zhivago

GO

I, too, have never seen any Godfather film, nor Alice Donut Liver Henry Moore, nor Doctor Z.

Soooo many others. Like, you wouldn't believe it. lol

While I agree with Woody that Annie Hall is nowhere near one of his best films, it was seminal (in terms of "romantic comedies", certainly). It was very innovative. Seen now (after the myriad films that were influenced by it), it might seem like no big whoop.

Every single one of those Biblical epics. I can't think of anything more boring than movies based on religion. If ever I have to go to church for a wedding or funeral or whatever, it feels like 40 minutes of pure torture. And some of those movies are over 4 hours long. Fuck that.

New Edit of Beatles Movie 'Let It Be' Could Happen Soon

by Martin Kielty September 17, 2018 Ultimate Classic Rock

.

Paul McCartney said a new edit of the Beatles movie Let It Be could enter production in the near future. The original 1970 documentary hasn’t been available in home formats since 1982 as a result of scenes that showed the band in a negative light as the members moved toward their split.

The Daily Beatle reported that McCartney had been asked about the movie during a recent radio interview. “We keep talking about that," he said. "We have meetings. … People have been looking at the footage.” He added that he’d been told that a great deal of the unused material showed “a bunch of guys making music and enjoying it.” “Who knows, that may be happening in a year or two," he noted.

The report also quoted Let It Be cinematographer Tony Richmond, who'd previously said a proposed DVD remaster had been blocked “by George’s Harrison’s estate and his wife and Yoko Ono, because they don’t want the acrimony shown.” In 2007, Apple Corps boss Neil Aspinall said "the film was so controversial when it first came out. When we got halfway through restoring it, we looked at the outtakes and realized: this stuff is still controversial. It raised a lot of old issues.”

Discussing a potential re-release in 2018, McCartney told Rolling Stone that he'd had no objection to the idea, though he added that the "objection should be me. I don’t come off well." He went on to explain that he was "one of the votes" on the board of Apple Corps, and that Ringo Starr, Ono and Olivia Harrison counted as much as he did.

"That’s the secret of the Beatles – can’t do three to one," he said. "During the breakup was when it got screwed up – we did three against one. But now it has to be unanimous. The two girls are Beatles."

Is there anyone here who hasn't seen "Animal House"? - OTHER THAN SEXTON, WHO PROMISES TO WATCH IT SOON. REAL SOON. LIKE, I HOPE "TONIGHT OR TOMORROW" SOON.

MickeyDolenz, given your vast musical knowledge of all eras and genres, I think you would love "This is Spinal Tap". In fact, I highly recommend youi watch "Spinal Tap" and then watch the real-life version of "Spinal Tap", which is a movie called "Anvil! The Story of Anvil!"

Boyz N The Hood

Deliverance

Top Gun

any of the Aliens movies

No movie about the Titanic

Dukes Of Hazzard (I like the TV show and had no interest in seeing other people playing them and I figured the movie would change the characters anyway or the movie would be done in some kind of joke way, like the term "yacht rock". I didn't want to hear Enos cussin' or whatever. I did watch the 2 reunion TV movies with the original cast.)
