Star Wars Episode IX

The late Carrie Fisher will be in the next "Star Wars" movie even though she passed away two years ago.

Writer and director J.J. Abrams said unreleased footage of the actress will be used in "Star Wars: Episode IX" to bring her character's story to "a satisfying conclusion. He said recasting Fisher or using CGI to recreate her were not the right options.

"Star Wars: Episode IX" is scheduled to be released in December of 2019.

After she died they said she wouldn't be in it at all. Then I seen a story where her daughter and, I think it was her brother, said that Carrie should be in the movie regardless of her death. So it looks like Disney have changed their minds and decided to have her featured after all. Personally, I think it would be weird NOT to include her. With this being the final film in the "Skywalker Saga" it's only right that she would be in it. I'm also willing to bet that Mark Hamill and maybe even Hayden Christensen will show up as ghosts at some point.

yeahthat

I thought for sure that in the last movie, that "blast" scene was their way of dealing with her passing IRL. I was shocked when she survived that scene.

I love that she's in it. I think if there is this footage that can be used and woven into the next movie to make sense and not just "oh, there's Carrie", then go for it. I'd rather they do this than CGI. Hopefully, her send-off will be more than poignant at the end of this triple trilogy of movies.

Most likely, it'll be a shit-fest like the last two.

I think Episodes 7 and 8 are among the best movies in the entire series so I really hope that Episode 9 is a similar "shit-fest".

I agree. The shitfest was 1-3. The problem with those is that they were flat. Everything was green screen. There was no depth, no great interaction with one's surroundings. The plus of 7-8 is that they have that organic feeling that 4-6 did. and while 4-6 did use matte paintings and some blue screen, the majority of it was practical not CGI. 7-8 feels real again. The best thing about 4-6 is that you believed that could be real. It felt real. 1-3 felt like a video game. 7-8 feels real again. People are always going to shit on something, so I'm not surprised by negative feedback about 7-8. But I love 'em. Rogue One filled in some great gaps, too.

Agreed. However I'm sooo sick of people proclaiming their hate for TLJ every chance they get and especially when the comments come out at inappropriate times (Star Wars Facebook page celebrates one of the actors birthdays, etc.). People dislike the movies, fine. I wish they'd just give their opinion and then shut the hell up. But nooooooooo. They just keep bitching and bitching. mad

There've only been two classic SW movies, Ep. IV & V - the rest were hit & miss. The series 'jumped the shark' with "Return of the Care Bears". Force Awakens was a rehash of A New Hope, and Last Jedi was pure trash. Rose, Finn, Emo Vader - they're as annoying as Jar Jar Binks. Rogue One shits on all of them.

Like I said, people are always going to bitch. But the box office & fan demand trumps it all.

I'm quite frankly the movies have taken the direction they have. Lucas recently said his plan was for the last three movies to go into the ethereal and spiritual realm with the force and midi-chlorians. I think there is a scene is Rebels or something where this is touched on a bit. However, stretching that over 3 movies sounds painful.

If anyone can find a way to integrate footage of Carrie Fisher into 9 and make it believable in the context of the story, JJ can.

While I find it the weakest of the three, every time I catch RoJ on TV I get annoyed at all the remastering done by Lucas up to and inlcuding plugging in Hayden Christiansen's ghost at the end alongside the older Alex Guiness and Yoda rolleyes I own the originally released vesions of 4-6. The picture isn't as clean but it is how I remember it.

Rogue 1 was just plain awesome and I thoroughly enjoyed Force Awakens in despite the similarity to New Hope. Solo was entertaining enough, and while TLJ was not my favorite, it kinds ranks with RoJ for me.

That was an abomination....a clear example of Lucas being a mad genius.

Unlike TLJ, Rogue One actually felt like a Star wars movie.

In other words people have been bitching about Star Wars since 1983. And for the record NOBODY even comes close to Jar Jar Binks as being annoying.

I've found Jake Lloyd to be completely annoying. Same with the Art teacher lesbian Admiral Holdo...er whatever crap. Hell, the main character Rey is irritating AF and same goes to douchebag angryman Adam what's his name... the Ben Solo guy.... really annoying..

I think these two films have made me appreciate Lucas' mostly crap films a little more.

One things certain: these characters won't have any longevity. At the end of the day, Jar Jar does.

Yes... he's pretty bad....and he will live on in infamy and in humor, moreso than any of these horrible new characters

The acting was bad in parts 1-3. Natalie Portman and Christensen Hayden were stiff and had no chemistry together. Samuel L. Jackson was out of place because he couldn't yell in the camera and make cool speeches. Ewan Mcgregor was the best thing in those movies. Darth Maul and Liam Neeson were good too but were only in the first movie.

Yaaaassssssss!

My hand to God, I cannot even remember what happened in 2 and I only watch the last 45 minutes of 3 so I can see the "birth" of Darth Vader. Portman dying was a relief.

What the hell did Lucas see in Hayden Christensen to play such an important character?

For me, Ian McDiarmid made the prequels tolerable (barely).

That's the million dollar question. Yeah Ian McDiarmind was good too.
