Just watched it last night with my bf's baby bro because you know, he asked me to. Sharing some thoughts here!

- A more Disney sci-fi film than a typical "superhero" movie, and it's pretty enjoyable for what it is.

- It wasn't a Wasp film even though it was supposed to be. (Although Lilly's portrayal did tackle some of the running problems among female avengers especially in terms of their personalities.) Paul Rudd's Paul Rudd-ness once again steals the show.

- Geeked out a bit when I saw Hank Pym putting on da suit! Although I wish they added more gravity to that scene. (but understandable considering the first scene of the movie)

- Marvel's really upped their villain/antagonist game since Spidey vs Vulture from last year. (Hela maybe not so much). Really liked what they did with Ghost, in this movie I'll go as far as to say she wasn't a villain.
- But must say that last scene in where the OG wasp was somehow able to "heal" the ghost through some brain wave power coming out of her fingers seemed real cheesy and it snapped me right out of the film. Only if they had provided more profound explanation it wouldn't have turned out so bad...But it was bad, major cringe moment.

-Edit - forgot to add - pace, sound effects, action scenes...did not disaapoint!!

Overall this felt like it was a bit of a step-back for Marvel, especially because I thoroughly enjoyed the last 4 MCU films so much since Spidey. Unless you're a Marvel head or a big sci-fi enthusiast or a Disney lover - I recommend skipping it. Any Marvel fans here? Thoughts?

I enjoyed it for what it was - comic-book-popcorn-beat-the-summer-heat entertainment, but it was not the best Marvel flick of recent. While I enjoy the lighter moments, this one was riddled wiht them (practically a sit-com) and the villain was not nearly menacing enough. That said, it was fun.

I felt like the logic of the plot and it's comic universe physics were so chaotic and just made up to propel their script that I was not into it. Things like the magic brain wave power "Did you know she could do that?" are just bad writing. The VFX kept me interested when they happened.

Just my thoughts..

Ghost was not the best bad guy, but i did like how she is kind of nutral by the end.

After seeing the trailer on tv, there is once scene that stood out, the ant on drums.

Now after watching the movie i was like "they cut it out!!"

Then comes the post credit scene.. the ant on drums!

Although, because Disney have made the monumentally stupid decision to delay the release of the movie over here until after the World Cup, I wasn't able to see it at the cinema. Instead, I had to use "nefarious means" to watch it. Which I don't like doing. But I enjoyed it. It didn't blow me away or anything but it was good. I'll need to see it again on the big screen when it eventually gets released over here before really forming an opinion on it though. But the general rule for me is "If Michael Douglas is in it, it's worth watching". Although I do think that the best thing about the MCU are the Netflix shows. Better writing, MUCH better villains and due to being a series, they have more room for better storytelling than the movies.

Damn that really sucks. I never watched any of the Marvel netflix shows, which one would you recommend?

Don't you think that's what made the movie stand out a bit? I always thought Marvel had many stereotype villains that even when they're "good" in individual films with good writing and stellar acting, because they are too similar with other previous ones in terms of motivation or personality we've already seen, most of them become too forgettable.

If I remember correctly, the ant playing the drums is actually in the movie before the post credit scene too. Hank Pym says something along the lines of "what are you, a kid?" to Lang when he finds out the ant's just casually playing the instrument in his place. But yeah awesome scene indeed. Love they always keep characters consistant, I remember Lang practicing the drums in Civil War also.

I think Marvel does a good job how they can make actors look younger in flashback scenes. Also Captain America with him as a scrawny 5 foot nothing soldier. Though Robert Downey jr. looked a little freaky in Civil War (I think it was that movie) as a teenager scene.
