12 Ways To Love And Support Someone With High-Functioning Depression

http://lifestyle.diply.co...;config=25

This rings for me because I always feel the need to push and goad someone to make them feel better, sometimes just being is enough.

3. Give Them Your Company

This doesn't necessarily mean asking them to do things and hang out. Making a commitment like that can make them feel pressured. Instead, ask to tag along with the grocery shopping, dropping books off at the library, doing the dishes. Your presence is sometimes all it takes.

And don't feel like you aren't wanted if you aren't talking. Someone with depression feels lonely often, but talking can stress them out. They need you to just be there with them, even if that means sitting across the room or snuggling up next to them.

Great post and fantastic idea for a thread. Why is there such a stigma attached to this? Why is there the stigma attached to seeking professional help?

I love the comment about company. Sometimes I would have a better understanding of time, how much time I have spent doing a task for instance, if someone is quietly around. We get lost in time.
