Not to mention his expert performance as the Terminator in two of the best sci-fi/action movies ever made. But if action is not your thing then he's got you covered as well. Since his stint as Governator he's put in some really understated performances in Maggie and Aftermath.

I agree Johnny Depp is an underated actor.

Tom Cruise......... well making scientology stories into movies does not interest me. Now he was good in Top Gun and some other movies............. and then one day he did that couch jumping on Oprah and from then on I have not gone to see another TC movie.

Arnie is a good actor.

It's partly because of his religion that Tom Cruise is overlooked, I think. Although he's never made a movie from a scientology story so I don't know what movie you're referring to. But just because he believes in some crazy stuff shouldn't detract from the quality of his movies or performances. After all, I wouldn't judge a Christian or Muslim actor's movies on their religion so I wouldn't judge Tom Cruise for his either.

I'd agree Cruise's close ties to his religion have had an impact. I can't name another A-List Actor who serves in basically the highest level of officaldom of his/her faith. But I think his couch jump and his divorce and custody issues being tabloid fodder for a decade have affected him as well.

Cruise might actually be an underrated actor. All The Right Moves, Risky Business, Rain Man, The Firm, Jerry Maguire, Magnolia, and even films like American Made. He's proven himself equally adept at comedy, action and drama. I don't pay to see his movies anymore but I respect the heck out of his talent.

I´m not a fan but I think he is very talented, disciplined and versatile, and he rarely stars in bad movies. But his personal antics including his activities for his religious organization, distract people from the actor Tom Cruise. I wonder how much of his discipline and work ethic stems from being in Scientology.

I usually enjoy watching his movies. The same goes for Michael Douglas. Maybe they just pick the right scripts.

...And, while we're at it... The guy on the right in the pic above is also an incredibly underrated actor. And his performance in H&W is one of his best (IMHO).

Martin Scorsese directing a movie starring Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci and Harvey Kietel. It CAN'T be as good as it sounds but it should still be worth watching.

It could be a highbrow version of The Expendables, or it could be the best film all of them have done in a generation. Either way, I'm watching.
