I could survive either way but I would be at a disadvantage in business if everyone but me had access to information via the web.

Honestly, no. There would be absolutely no tv, antennaes do not work in my area, no news whatsoever. Wait, I'd have radio so that'll work, maybe for news at least.

Music access would be limited. Half and half, physical and digital, but I'd still would not have access to buy certain artist without web access.

I'd have to buy an alarm clock, because my tablet would be useless.

No Podcast while working or cleaning.

I'd be forever on the phone trying to figure out when and where I'm supposed to be places especially since you have to press so many buttons before you get to an actual person now.

No Amazon
No GrubHub

I do still use pencil and paper notes so I'll be fine in that department.

I'd never hear from my kids, no text messages.

Oh my, I'd have to memorize phone numbers again, including my own.

I'd feel like I was living in the prairie days. How would I access any information? I do have an active library card since I no longer have any physical encyclopedias or dictionaries. I'd have to wait for books though, it aint the boondocks but this ain't New York either.

They added the series "ER" to Hulu recently, last night I said to my friend "look at these people, functioning at work in a high stress environment, saving lives and interacting without their cell phones. They don't look lost or confused, sure maybe they don't know much about each other but they seem fine". It was a simpler time indeed.

Not forever. My business is online. But I could go a month or two without it. As long as I had my laptop so I could write, I'd be fine. I can upload later. haha

I think there is a bigger thing question that should be addressed here.

Could you live without the internet? Sure, to some extent for a period of time. Could you live without the drama of the internet? I'm not talking about catty bitches in a comment section, or fights on Facebook or Twitter wars. I'm talking about being addicted to the drama of the news. When social networking moved to social media that is where it went wrong. People wake up every day and rush to read news, get upset about it, tweet about it and be an armchair social justice warrior. That is the addiction. "I sure showed them!"

Chip Gaines, from Fixer Upper, recently wrote an article about getting his phone wet and rendering it unusable. Instead of shelling out the money for a new phone (his upgrade was due in a month or two yet), he ended up using a flip phone. At first, it was tough and awkward. His wife Joanna took the bulk of texts and message that needed immediate attention. He realized that sometimes he was up at 2am checking his phone real quick after taking a whiz, then tweeting for two hours at 4am. He realized he was addicted to the drama of it. It wasn't the internet, it was the bullshit around it.

So could we do without the internet? Eh, probably not. It's integral to many of our lives. But if we stepped back from the pernicious commenting and just took a breath, that would be the hard part. Doable, but there is a learning curve there. People always ask, "What did we do before the internet?" We were chilled the fuck out, that's what.

If folks took some time from their computers, the internet and other technologies then people would interact more one on one and have decent conversations. More family oriented meals around the dinner table and extra cirricular activities.

Although I had a computer with internet access in the 90s, it was just an information tool and a word processor for me back then; I didn't really utilize social media forums until the 2000's... So, yeah, I can live without the internet. BUT unfortunately one needs the internet for many life functions these days... :eyeroll:

We have Ooma, which is VoIP but still our 'landline' phone. I have an iPhone, but I don't use it for much except when I'm out. I use it when I'm shopping, finding coupons, ordering ahead, redeeming a reward, etc. I use it for my shopping list (a la Amazon Echo app). I might use it to take a photo of food or something quick outside. But if I need to be on a mobile device, I use my iPad. Even that is rather utilitarian in use.

If I'm FBing or tweeting, etc., I'll just do it on my Macbook Air.

We use our Ooma for 99% of any call that comes into the house.

I'd go mad in a time span not exceeding 24hrs!

I just bought an Amazon Echo. I resisted, but knew I would probably get one. So I waited to find one that would fit my home decor vibe. I have the one in the middle. A blue color. But I like that metallic and the wood finish too

I agree, but even before internet I knew too many families that never did that. Eating dinner was on the fly and use of fast food meals and food you could just warm up from a can. Every man for themselves.

We always ate together at one time, except for Saturdays, that was the day 'either mom' cooked breakfast or you cooked your own(she was teaching us how to cook our own breakfasts, the one meal that might be the easiest) then because that was the day we were out doing things together or individual we at at a restaraunt, over someones house, fast food/pizza/McDonalds etc or cooked something at home on your own.

We had the ATARI system back in the earlies 80s. That was an event to go to the Game Spot and pick out the next Atari game. We used the computer more for game time, but also to type up stuff.

My job requires the use of internet. Everyone's medical records are on some type of digital program now. I have to have my job to survive, buy food, pay house payment, pay car payment, insurance, gas, so probably not.

But personally, unless I find a good topic on here that interests me and keeps me entertained for a little while, I'm not on the internet the way I was a few years ago. There are days/nights when I don't even turn on my computer and I refuse to use my phone as a computer. I used to talk with a friend daily online - he's across the country from me, but we don't chat any more. Life, work, other responsibilities get in the way, so there isn't much need for me to be on the internet anymore. So, yeah, I could. But I could keep my GPS right? I have to have my GPS for work. And I don't want to go back to using paper maps. Trying to fold those things
