I think that the writers have finally got the message and the show will now move on from the Negan storyline smile the new characters that we saw last night might be from a new group called the Commonwealh,a storyline which is now being explored in the comic book.

biggrin love the possibilities. i feel re-inspired by the show and kind of hope that Negan and Rick might end up as allies.

Definite elements of that relationship forming this week for sure ... Negan saying to Rick "Damn, you are a psychopath", which was what drew him to Carl in the first place.

The fact Simon has now gone against Negan, and Negan knows it, I can see Rick and Negan calling some sort of truce to take him out. Negan even offered a semi-truce this week. And everyone likes to see a cool villian team up with a cool hero ... Xavier and Magneto, Joker and Batman ... how badass to see Rick and Negan on the same page!

Interesting. But I think the Saviors' plan was a product of the writers insulting my intelligence as a fan.

How many times have we seen the characters covered in zombie blood and guts? You mean to tell me they've never gotten that stuff into open wounds, over nearly a decade of the show? And *now* they're going to get sick from it and turn or die?

The showrunners are just milking the cow.

looks like they’re not gonna do the Whisperers storyline. In the comics,Carl plays a big role in that story but since they killed him off on the show,I guess they decided to cancel that story?

Does he? I watched the episode last night but couldn´t really see any hint of him knowing about Simon´s little mutiny.

Great episode, especially the ending with Jaydis.

And I wonder how Georgie and her guardians made it that far without getting noticed by Negan´s team.

Yup, I think that's exactly what happened ... the bit where Rick was shouting at him about "you're idea of peace is to turn up and murder whole communities, like the scrap heap guys", cut to Negan's face and you can see him mull it over like what is Rick going on about, then there was a big moment of realisation on his face and it was clear he was thinking "Awww, Simon you utter pr*ck".

Go back and take another watch, I thought that was really clearly portrayed. I think they even talked about it on The Talking Dead.

Oh, I see. Yes , maybe it was obvious in that scene . The thing is that I could barely see anything in that scene because it was so dark. I didn´t even notice that it was Rick who picked up Lucille and not Negan, that´s how dark it was.

So, yeah, you´re probably right. Simon did not follow Negan´s exact orders, and I guess that not following his orders 100% and killing folks without permission is equal to mutiny.

By the way, do you have any idea who Georgie and her people are? Are they in the comics, too?

Ah, that makes sense ... I can't watch certain shows or films in the day if its sunny as I can't see half of what's going on. Walking Dead is always an 'after dark' show for me for that reason. I thought it was a good episode, so worth a watch again when the lighting is better for you.

She's one of the seniors in a massive new group known as the Commonwealth. In the comic they are a city of around 50,000 survivors that have moved towards having a city like a 'proper' city before the apocalypse.

In the comic they don't come in until later though, after the Negan v Rick thing is resolved, after the three year time jump, and after the Whisperer War ... so if they are bringing the Commonwealth in now they are either going to skip alot of content or run some of it in parallel. You could do the Whisperer War and Commonwealth thing at the same time. The time jump thing I assume they won't bother with as it'll be tough to move all the actors on three years in a few months ... and I don't think most viewers would take well to a Three years later ... thing at the start of a new season.

I actually like the Whisperers. They're different to all the other villains that have been before which all seem to be male megolamaniacs in charge of a large group of subordinates ... the Governor, Gareth, Negan.

I think they would be a great change for the show and add a new touch but, like many others here, I am sick and tired of seeing war after war. Albeit I must admit that the concept of the Whisperers is totally different and you´re right, they´re not just another psycho in charge of a large group.

What´s missing, in my opinion, is what´s happening in the bigger cities and communities, and the question whether there is still some sort of government or army or whatever.

And that´s what makes FTWD interesting to me because it takes place in the early months of the epidemic.

I still like TWD a lot but it gets a bit tiresome to see them live in or walk through the same old muddy swamps and forests of Georgia and what seems like Virginia and /or North Carolina and South Carolina.

I mean, ok, we know that the big cities such as Atlanta etc. are full of zombies but still, I wonder how people are living there, what kind of communities there are and so on...not the same old mini communities such as the Kingdom, Sanctuary and Alexandria...those are cool, too, but I want to see what´s left of civilization.

But I understand that that´s probably much too expensive for AMC. I remember that those Atlanta scenes in the first season cost them a lot of money and that´s one of the reasons why the got rid of Darabont.

tonight's episode was fantastic thumbs up! Negan wasn't in it at all and that's just fine. The storyline is getting really exciting and more compelling. One interesting thing: we finally see Carol with Rick and she finally talked to her old boyfriend Tobin. For weeks,it seemed like was avoiding most of these characters, lol.

I need to go back and watch the first few eps... I am sure someone got hit with an arrow that has passed through a walker.

this thing with the blood on the knives and arrows sure seems to change well-established lore. I all the times they fought walkers or been covered in gore and no one got a nick or cut?

other than that it was a great part...

That's EXACTLY what I brought up in Reply #18. It's a ridiculous way to milk more episodes out of the cash cow.

But if it will help bring these meandering storylines to an END then let's just get on with it.

You know....I thought about this many times, and since the very first episodes I´ve been wondering about how the virus really spreads but I think they have just been very, very careful to avoid cuts, scratches and any other minor injuries so that they don´t get sick and turn.

But maybe you´re right and they kind of did not pay attention to that important detail that you mentioned (the thing with the arrow going through a walker and hurting someone).

no way they have been covered in guts many times and all that fighting and stuff they would always have cuts and stuff. Eugen should have discovered it... it would have taken 3 mins... someone gets sick and turns... and they say "he was covered in walker blood... it was all in his wounds...something must have changed in how the virus spreads..."

me too. i remember watching when abraham's hand was lacerated then he got all covered in gore (that firetruck scene, a while back) and he never became ill, so i assumed the virus was not transmissible through contact with open wounds.

I thought it was established already. Die you come back as a walker, everyone already has the virus. A walker bite kills for some unknown reason which is why you don't want to get bit.

Possible spoilers:

The Whisperers wear zombie skin/flesh to disguise themselves amongst the walkers and live in a massive community living off the land, in tents, etc. They dehumanise themselves as much as possible to survive. They've learnt to walk amongst the dead so its easier to get around, but they stick to their own turf.

They aren't agressive and only mix it up with Rick's group when Carl strays in to their territory and gets caught up with a girl, who he finds out they've been mistreating. Carl does that typical teen thing of sticking up for her no matter the consequences, so Rick and the others have to rescue him ... cue big dust up between the groups.

It was definitely something different from what went before and there were some shocking moments in the comic. But the Whisperers only make sense if humanity has been screwed up for some years, hence the need for the time jump in the story for them to work. Carl is also a huge part of the story so I'm not sure how they would approach the plot now that he's dead.

Some bits really annoyed about this week's episode. Why didn't Dwight shoot Simon in the back of the head when they were sneaking round Hilltop on their own?

And how the hell did all those people sleeping on the hard floor of the Hilltop mansion not wake up when a grown man fell all the way down the stairs?!!

They keep sh*t like this up, what with Rick suddenly not being able to hit the side of a barn with an assault rifle (must keep Negan alive!), and they're gonna keep on leaking viewers.

lol it's amazing how 'dumb' they're making Rick look. He's a former cop and yet everytime he gets near Negan,he somehow misses every shot? It's almost becoming like a comedy. For this reason,I'd rather not see anymore Rick and Negan fight scenes. It's pointless.
