Its possible Chandler Riggs wants to be off the show but if he wanted to come back he'd make a nice ghost....

Nah. lol He was pretty pissed off that he was no longer on board. His dad sounded disappointed, too. Maybe even more so than Chandler Riggs.

I´ve always liked him, and he never got on my nerves regardless of what his critics say. Wish he could have stayed on that show.

I agree.I want them to kill Negan off and move on.I hate the idea of Negan and Rick being friends and working together.

Agree, I want that bastard dead.

They never wrote Carl well until the end. THAT was the problem. Riggs' performance in his final episodes proved he could be a compelling character, so the writing appears to have been the problem with his character all along.

here's another article on the ratings.....

'Walking Dead' suffers wo...| Fox News

"The Walking Dead" has suffered a ratings decline that some critics attributed to the gory turn the show took in its seventh season.

Negan, played by Jeffery Dean Morgan, opened the seventh season with a barbed wire-wrapped baseball bat left two fan-favorite characters bloodied to a pulp. The very gory scene drew the attention of the Parents Television Council, which slammed AMC for violence.

Viewership waned throughout the seventh season with the premiere high of 17 million viewers dropping to 10.6 million viewers by the midseason finale.

It remains to be seen if the eighth season can bounce back from the low midseason opener.

^^ As I've been saying for months.....they need to get rid of Negan! That storyline has the show in a standstill. It's time to move on from Negan.I don't really find him amusing and the "war" is taking forever to come to a conclusion. It's frustrating to see so many characters get close to him,but never actually kill him nuts

The show will be fine once they move on from this storyline.A change of scenery might also be a good idea. Why not have everybody relocate to nearby Florida?

I don't think it WILL be fine, S/A.

This show needs to go. And I say that as a dedicated fan. The instability at the top, the recycled storylines (Governor-Terminus-Negan), the pretentious, gratuitous attempts to stoke emotions and suspense, and most importantly, the need to prop the show up as an AMC tentpole, have brought us to this.

They need to bury this storyline, then the group needs to beat the Walkers, or get beaten. Or eaten.

I think once it became clear there was no mystery to solve and the show was just going to keep going on as it had been just waiting until you favorite character gets killed it lost appeal for a lot of viewers. What's the point?

I think there's also the fact the show has been on for 8 years now. It's hard for many shows to stay "fresh" and new after such a long time.Personally,I still find the show to be really good and intriguing. It's actually the only show I watch.I just want them to move on from the current storyline.

To be honest,I never liked the storylines that revolve around a villian. There's nowhere to go with it.The villian does evil things and Rick's group fights back....and they both go back and forth, back and forth.I didn't really like The Governor, either smile

It pivoted from an existential fight under Darabont and Kirkman to an endless paint-by-numbers. insert-new-villain-here conflict under the new showrunners.

Exactly! I mean, I still love the show and all the drama and interesting characters but the whole zombie apocalypse angle has taken a backseat to people with survival skills killing other people with survival skills instead of joining forces to fight the zombies and maybe even find much more people or communities somewhere out there.

The zombie aspect, the virus, the rest of the United States etc. are not even mentioned anymore. The previous seasons always kept me curious about what´s going to happen next and where they´d go next, and if there´s still somewhat of a government structure in other regions, perhaps in Washington.

But then again I guess the graphic novels don´t go into any elaborate details either, or do they?

That´s why I like FTWD a lot ....it had a bit of a slow, unspectacular start but it shows us different regions, drastically different locations and people and climates and the zombie apocalypse, the walkers and the virus are more of a danger than the rotten, slow and weakened walkers on TWD.

I agree...FTWD has done a great job of moving the characters around to different locations, which keeps things fresh and exciting.Their 4th season will take place in Texas, which will bring a lot of new opportunities and adventures.

In the comic the next set of villains after Negan are very different to what has come before, so I'm hoping they move on to them next season ... but for those villains to work they need to do the time jump that also happened in the comic between the two story lines.

I think that will be a big enough shake up in the story to make the TV show feel fresh again because a ton of things have changed over the course of the intervening years. Killling Carl is a big storyline depature though so I'm doubtful as to whether they will follow the comic story much any more.

I don´t follow the comics but killing Carl feels like the show is about to wrap up soon and not follow the original story at all.

Why is the time jump really necessary for them to introduce those next enemies? You mean the whisperers, right? Can´t they just introduce them like that? Now that they´ve killed Carl, I guess it doesn´t really matter anyway.

And.....is there any hint of civilization or bigger communities in the comic? Like, big cities and all?

The Whisperers indeed ... I think you'd need a significant period of time to pass by for their choice of behaviour to be believable. A few months or a year, I don't think that's long enough of a societal breakdown for people to resort to what the Whisperers are and do ... five or so years, much more believable.

I'm not fully up to date with the comics as I get the smaller compendiums when they come out, but...

As far as the ratings drop, I've read about ratings drops for a lot of shows. the beginning of Season 7 left a sour taste in my mouth and I admit, although I still enjoyed the show, I wasn't looking forward to each episode as I was during previous seasons so I can understand why the ratings may have dropped because of the gory way Season 7 began. But, at the same time, the mid-season 8 premiere of TWD clobbered the closing cerimonies for the Winter Olympics so I don't think we are in danger of the series being cancelled anytime soon.
