(NBA) Trading Deadline Thread/ Knicks Porzingis Done for the Season

Kristaps Porzingis MRI Re...go Surgery

http://www.nydailynews.co...-1.3806109

Blow it up, tank, get into the lottery, and rebuild......AGAIN.....how many times have us Knick fans been saying that since 2001?

And I have no faith in our clueless front office, particularly Steve Mills. This is the same assclown who gave THJ a $71mil contract.

mad disbelief

I like Porzingis, sucks that he's out for the year.

All these players on Lebron's allstar team keep getting hurt, I'm starting to think he's a jinx this season.

On the one hand, it really sucks for Porzingis, as he won't be able to lead the Knicks to respectability this season, but after starting out around .500 for the first couple of months, they really started going downhill around Christmas. But at least the Knicks can get some good draft picks. Whether they choose wisely with those picks is another matter.

As for some of the other teams, Golden State is going along, but they have hit the midseason wall, and they will have to grind it out until around March, when they can get prepped for the playoffs. Houston looks really good right now, but where will they be come April? Toronto looks really good, but then they have been a great regular season team for several years now, yet they struggle in the playoffs. But the Cavs are a hot mess. Lebron James looks like he's going through the motions, Isaiah Thomas doesn't have his basketball legs back yet, and the supporting cast looks MIA and have probably given up on Lebron. At this rate, they may face Milwaukee in the first round and not even get past Giannis and Khris Middleton.

Good points. But the Cavs and Warriors have played a LOT of basketball. Especially LBJ, who's had to log heavy postseason minutes into June since 2010. That's basically 10 seasons packed into 8 years.

GSW is in the same boat. They've played 3 straight Finals, have sustained some injuries, and usually gets the opponent's best shot every night.

CLE's chemistry is deteriorating rapidly, which would be the only path to an East team beating LeBron James 4 times in 2 weeks.

We're in the dog days of the season. It'll be interesting to see where things are around St. Patrick's Day.

Good trade for both teams:

Cavs get young and athletic legs. Nance and Clarkson have logged good minutes and can help get the core through the regular season, and fit into the rotation perhaps into the long term after LBJ is gone.

The Lakers get a pick and expiring contracts to clear space for 2 max players. Magic feels really good he can get LBJ and PG13. I hope he's right but I don't know.

Too bad about Porzingis. I don't know who put the voodoo on the Knicks but it sure is STRONG voodoo.

I'm trying to figure out if the Cavs' housecleaning means LBJ is gone, too. I tend to think it does.

Will Isaiah take away Ball's minutes? If so, what will Daddy Ball do about that?

Doesn't matter. They're headed for the lottery and IT has an expiring contract. He'll be gone by summer if LAL is serious about pursuing LeBron. LeVar's piped down for now, and Ball has been hurt for a few weeks. Let's see what happens after All-Star break.

I watched last night's horrible broadcast of the 3rd rate Lakers bench (mostly) vs the 3rd rate OKC bench (mostly)

that thing was more boring than a scrimmage and more sloppy than a college NCAA game.

BUT(!) one take away from the broadcasters was the revelation that IT will be coming off the bench, possibly splitting minutes, according to their sources, GM and Magic Johnson... "Lonzo isn't losing his position"

So.... there ya have it.

Cleveland cleaned house but in hindsight they don't want a squad of broken down players if/when LeBron leaves. Poor D-Wade getting sent to Miami for a 2024 2nd Round draft pick. I think what the Cavs did could majorly backfire though come playoff time. Clarkson and Nance have no playoff experience but say LBJ can turn them into a championship team surely it would be the biggest underdog victory in NBA history.

IT has shown himself to be a locker room cancer. Who the fuck was he to point fingers at Kevin Love? I think it was Shannon Sharpe who said IT couldn't guard a fire hydrant, plus he constantly jacks up bad shots. Can't wait to see what happens in LA.

Exactly in regards to IT. Shit Kevin Love is Dennis Rodman compared to IT.
Don't think the Cavaliers made any moves that's gonna threaten West contenders GS and Houston in a potential finals but at least these moves can help plug the bleeding once they gel. They have a couple of guys who should be able to hel stick the outside shot and a wing guy who can play some defense. At least my Sixers are watchable and competitive this season. I laugh at all these dumb ass online Sixers fans coaching from the couch who think we should fire Brett Brown after every loss or bench or trade all the role players when they have a bad game. I try to tell these fuckers the Sixers didn't inherit a 58 win team this season. Don't even think about it. It's gonna take some time for these guys to gel together and be battle tested before rise to the penthouse in the Eastern conference.

You're right.

The Cavs have set themselves up to allow LeBron to reprise Superman II for the fourth time against the Warriors.

And it's going to take years for the Sixers to gel into a legitimate contender, just as it took years for GSW to do so. FWIW, the coach that put in the pick-and-shovel work for Golden State didn't survive to see them reach the promised land.

LeBron's quotes about his new crew;

"Attention to detail was at an all-time high.....we have players who can get their own and are pretty smart."

OUCH.....that's a dig against his old crew. biggrin

they must have made a deal with the devil to beat Chamberlain and the Lakers in the 73 finals, because since then it seems they have been cursed..Bernard King blew out his knee at the top of his game...John Starks goes 2-18 in game 7 of the 94 finals...Patrick Ewing breaks his shooting wrist in the prime of his career, then tears his achillies right before the 99 finals...they traded draft pick Nene, who's STILL playing, for a broken down Antonio McDyess...they sign a broken down Amare Stoudemire...they trade the whole core of their roster for overrated Carmelo Anthony, leaving him to play with chumps and d-leaguers like Ray Felton, Langston Galloway, and Toure Murray...they give total control to senile, brittle, cantankerous Phil Jackson who gives 72 million to washed up Joakim Noah, while hiring idiots for coaches...when he never should have fired Mike Woodson in the first place...and i havent even mentioned the whole Marbury-Isiah Thomas-Larry Brown-Anucha Sanders shit...so yeah, Porzingis tearing his knee fits right into the 45 year (and counting) soap-opera that the Knicks are...Porzingis just LOOKS fragile...he has the same build as Shawn Bradley...im now convinced he'll never be the superstar i was almost gullible enough to believe he was becoming...even though owner Jimmy Dolan and his GM/valet/weed-carrier/boyfriend Steve Mills are the common bond in most of the fuckery over the years, they do appear to have some type of supernatural energy working against them...that said, Mudiay and Ntilikina looked good playing together last night...im just trying to keep hope [for the future] alive...

the Cavaliers gave up a bunch of dead weight, for a crew of athtletic ballers entering the primes of their careers...DWade? finished...DRose? BEEN finished...Channing Frye? LOL...Iman Shumpert? that bum couldnt even cut it on a sorry Knicks team b4 he became a cheerleader in Cleveland (sexy wife tho)...Jae Crowder? average role player at best...Isaiah Thomas? defensive liability and undersized, overrated crybaby...the Cavs just took out all the trash...while bringing in versatlie, athletic kids like Nance Jr., Hood, Clarkson...a steady two way guard George Hill who is playoff tested...and making more minutes for the goofy Turkish kid Osman...Lebron was beside himself with joy yesterday...he loves Clarkson already...as he should...that young GM for the Cavs did his thang...

Well, I'm not surprised that HOU would be speculating about half of the Banana Boat Crew finally uniting. But they've got a team LBJ can slide right into and not have to handle the ball all the time.

At least during the Checketts/ Riley/ Van Gundy era the Knicks were a legit contender - a tough, hard-nosed, gritty team that gave it their all for 48 minutes and played defense. They lost two Finals but had great battles with the Bulls, Pacers & Heat.

But the franchise has been a steaming pile of shit ever since Cablevision and the Dolans took over. They haven't been relevant since 2001. Best thing for the Knicks would be tanking the season, and getting another high draft pick to pair with Porzingis. I think the Knicks will have to build around this pick, because Porzingis isn't dependable. You hold your breath every time he steps on the court.

He's ruining his two youngest sons. Lonzo's already free. Maybe Lonzo should look to Magic as his professional father figure, because if he goes along with this, it would be career suicide.

Ask Doc Rivers.
