Zelda Breath of Wild!

Wow! SO I got this game for the switch... and it is amazing. It is huge and almost too big (that's what she said...just not to me...)

Really: as soon as I walked into the world I saw what they mean by Breath! WOW. And so far many things that you can do are based as much on the physics engine as anything.

I have had a good time working out the puzzles (they seem to have replaced the dungeons with over 100 shrines that have puzzles and combat.) And different ways to approach obstacles. Even in the first area (that is part tutorial but it works well as it is story based), there are several ways to do many of the things in the game.

I even got the DLC (just for Majora's Mask but there are many other perks too)... I guess in a few 100 hours of play I will get to it!

I have a gripe that to get extras you have to buy these figures... they should sell just the codes without paying for the statues... (the DLC is one price and no paying extra for toy scalpers)

I give it a 9.75 out of 10 (it lost a 1/4 point over the amibos)

If you or anyone you know likes huge open world games with tons (and I mean TONS) to do... this is as close to a must have as any game I have ever played.

Possibly my favourite game of all time. I put over 200 hours into it. Did every shrine and collected every last seed. I haven't got the DLC yet because I've been too busy to play it but I will. Just as soon as I 100% Mario Odyssey. Which, incidentally, is another contender for my favourite game of all time and one I would recommend to anyone.

I think the Switch is worth owning for Breath of the Wild alone but Mario Odyssey is another great reason to own one. The fact that it's portable is a huge bonus for me too because it means I can take it with me when I'm picking my daughter up from school. There's been times when I've been an hour early just so I can sit outside playing Zelda or Mario Kart 8.

The thing about the amibos is that the item.s are purely cosmetic. Armor in game is as good or better, and potions for speed, sneak, etc cover.

There is one amibo that unlocks Epona, if you're so inclined.

Otherwise there are sets of cards with programmed NFC chips that do the same as the amibos. I've seen them for $20 to $50 a full set, but I think it's kind of bootleg so your milage may vary.

I actually have a few of those amiibos but I've never used any in a game. I just have them for decoration. Princess Peach is on my bedside cabinet.

My advice is to stock up on Guardian arrows if you can. Makes fighting them really easy. A few shots to the "eye" is enough for even the best of them. I remember the first time I encountered one. I literally squealed so loud my cousin came into my room to make sure I was OK. But with a few guardian arrows up my sleeve I'm fearless.

Although they still kill me every now and then.

yeah I have a few (maybe 12) I need to part farm and get some normal arrows (I have 8 now) and the money to buy some... but I can take one out the old way....chop off legs and then fight it with an arrow to the eye then 3 hits....arrow... or sometimes a shield thing. (chopping off legs gives you way more part drops)

I've already spent entirely too much time cooking in that game. I eventually got to the point where I would just shoot birds with flaming arrows to get cooked drumsticks.

You can make jewellery with the gems. Like, for example, if you make jewellery from a red gem it raises your tolerance to heat so you can get closer to the volcano. Blue jewellery allows you to get closer to colder areas.

As far as I remember. Before turning it on today to check what the amiibos do I hadn't played it since before Mario Odyssey came out so I'm not 100% sure.

I found a set of 22 of the cards for $20... they do not seem legit but I will try them out. It also seems there are over 100 different ones that do different things in different games.

I may get the Mario ones for the new Mario game.

And even if I have not played Mario yet I am getting "Dragon Quest Builders" in a month.

The Mario ones unlock new costumes in Mario Odyssey but you unlock those costumes through playing the game so they're not needed. Unless you're really impatient.

I think the Peach one gives extra hearts and the actual Mario amiibo gives 30 seconds of invincibility. Nothing major. I never used any of them and if I can play the game without the need for extra power ups, then anyone can. It's really not a tough game. It is quite possibly the most fun I've ever had with a game though. It's an absolute joy to play. Especially if, like me, you grew up with the old Super Mario World and Mario 64 games.

well, I have done 3 out of the 4 Divines... one more boss! And 116 shrines and maybe 120 seeds!

However... know where 3 of the last 4 shrines are!

When I can I will do the last shrines and then some side quests and get some ruppes and gear...

I do not think I will worry too much about 100%... I need to finish to get to Mario and in a few weeks a new game!

Technically speaking, you can play the game outside because the Switch is small enough to be portable. So take that!
