Just like I predicted. The Eagles beat the living shit out the Vikings and their
so called number 1 defense with their backup QB Nick Foles. The Saints would have been a better Super Bowl matchup for the Patriots. The Saints offense would have definitely posed a problem for the Patriots defense. The Vikings got their asses
handed to them by a backup qb. Damn.

Philly has the defense to cause NE problems (front four pass rush). The question is, can Foles give another virtuoso performance against what Belichick will throw at him?

3rd & 18 will haunt the Jags for a long time. Can't give Brady second chances. And if Bortles was more accurate on that deep pass, it doesn't get batted away.

Lot of QB questions for next year, Vikings can't keep Keenum, Bradford, and Bridgewater. What if Nick Foles wins the Superbowl?? Does Cousins stay?? Alex Smith getting traded??? Bortles??? Does Denver pick up any of these guys???

Devin McCourty on WFAN:

“We knew it was a team that once they got a lead that they would really lean on the run game, and I thought our front seven played really well in the second half trying to stop the run and not allowing them to just drown out the clock and just run and keep our offense off the field,” said McCourty, who also credited New England’s run game with playing better in the second half."

Like I said, NE dared Blake Bortles to beat them....they knew he couldn't (Jags coaches knew it too, that's why they played not to lose in the second half). When Jax got the turnover off the fumble, they went three and out. Can't do that against the Pats.

Unlike the Jags, Eagles stayed aggressive. They didn't run out the clock late in the first half......shit, they went and took it. Eagles must have that same mindset in two weeks.

im rooting for the New York Knicks...the NFL season is completely over, from my perspective...fuck football...im still just trying to convince myself that the Vikings making the Final Four, means they had a successful season...but man, it would have been so cool to see them host SB 52, but i think their spirits left their bodies and ascended, the night they beat the Saints, and they couldnt return in time for the Eagles game...their defense looked completely devoid of soul and energy...and Keenum looked like he hadnt slept in weeks...my heart is still broken ...fuck a super bowl..

For some reason, teams get stupid or too cute when they play the Patriots. They'll get a lead, then they get conservative and play not to lose. Against Brady, you have to stick the knife in. Play aggressive, smart football, like Philly did last week.

Pederson seems to have the instinct play calls to finish off opponents rather than to hold on and not lose. Philly has been remarkably consistent this year.

NE won its last 2 titles after being down by double digits in the 4th. ATL's play-calling wasn't conservative last year, it was just dumb. They did not run the ball in the 2d half. Running that time would have cost the Pats dearly. I don't see the Eagles making that mistake if they get the Pats down late.

Everybody will be pulling against New England I bet.

But Brandon Marhsall had it right. It's the fault of the other 31 teams that the Pats have gone on such a run.

Especially the teams in the AFC (looking at you, Six-Burgh), and

ESPECIALLY ESPECIALLY the teams in the AFC East, who've barely put up a real fight in the division for a decade or more.

Yeah, I should have made myself more clear, you have to play smart SITUATIONAL football. Julio Jones amazing catch gave ATL first down at the NE 28 late in regulation. That's the time to go conservative - run three times, kick the FG, go up by 11 and game over. But the OC got cute and paid the price for it. As the head coach, Quinn should have taken charge and told Shanahan to stop the bullshit and run the fucking ball. And don't get me started on Pete Carroll's play-calling on the goal line.

Jags made critical blunders - getting a delay-of-game AFTER a timeout, the offense going three-and-out after the defense gets that fumble, trying to coast with a lead.....your execution must be near flawless, because they will take advantage of your mistakes. Shit, all their Super Bowl wins have been close.

Yep, it's not the Pats fault the Jets, Dolphins & Bills have been inept for so long, mainly because they don't have a franchise QB.

Marshall's math is off - it's THIRTY teams. My Giants got the job done - TWICE.

Well make that 30 teams, Giants did their part beating the Patriots twice. That's why I think the Steelers should hire Tom Coughlin. Coughlin also knows how to beat the Steelers as head coach of the Jaguars and twice this year with Coughlin as Executive Vice President of Football Operations for the Jaguars. Hell fire Tomlin (he can't beat Belichek) and hire Coughlin as head coach. I think if Cowher was still there they would have won a few games against the Patriots.

To me that's the biggest misconception that most Tomlin haters have is that Bill Cowher somehow was a superior coach. Bill Cowher lost 4 AFC Championship games at home in which 2 were to the Patriots and he punked out on a 4th and 2 at the goal line in the 4th qtr that could have cut the lead to 7 but instead he elected to kick a fg and cut it to 11 in the 2005 AFC championship game. - Coughlin also got the best of Cowher during the old AFC Central days so that excuse don't fly either. Then I hear fans say Tomlin won his Super Bowl with Cowher's players. WTF? Cowher went 8-8 his last year with the team. I don't care if fans criticize Tomlin for coaching mistakes but it irks me when they act as though Cowher was somehow superior.

Guess I'm gonna irk you then. Cowher had Kordell (who choked big time in the big games). Still think Cowher would have more success than Tomlin if Cowher would have stuck around. I'll say it again, if Cowher was still there they would have won a few games against the Patriots.
